Screw "Remember the Alamo." Remember New Orleans.
The Alamo was a battle that was part of our theft of a chunk of Mexico. New Orleans was a crime of biblical proportions. Our so-called president, his party, and so many others, ignored the destruction of a great American city and the deaths of uncounted (mostly black) Americans.

Far too many former residents of New Orleans are spread out all over the map with no permanent homes, no jobs, and no hope.

I'm sick of hearing about America being the "greatest country in the world." What decent country would let so many of its citizens drown, or be dispersed, ignored, and left to fend for themselves with no resources, or means of escaping the tragedy that has befallen them.

And I'm sickened that 16 months later, no one in a position to do something about it gives a damn. This disaster may be more of an omen of a declining "American Empire" than is the Iraq war.

Perhaps it's time to take down the Statue of Liberty. It was once a symbol of what we stood for. Today, it's nothing more than a mockery of what we once were and what we might have become.

2. "Remember New Orleans"
I will never be able to forget what was done to American citizens on American soil by the American government. Never. I have only been to New Orleans twice, but I use it's symbol as my avitar to show my rememberence.

REMEMBER NEW ORLEANS!

3. I think you need to leave the Alamo out of this
and it was not stolen from Mexico either. Mexico lost it in a battle.

but you are right, we do need to remember New Orleans
