Secret Service Investigates Violent Essay By Seventh Grader
Secret Service Investigates Violent Essay By Seventh Grader

POSTED: 3:18 pm EST February 2, 2006

WEST WARWICK, R.I. -- The Secret Service is investigating a seventh grader who wrote a school essay that authorities say advocated violence against President Bush, talk show host Oprah Winfrey and others.

The boy's homework assignment for English class was to write what he would do on a perfect day. In addition to the president and Winfrey, the boy wrote that violence should be directed at executives of Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart, police and school officials said.

"His perfect day would be to see the destruction of these people," Schools Superintendent David Raiche said.

The Secret Service investigation is ongoing, but the essay may have been a "cry for help," said Thomas M. Powers, resident agent in charge in Providence. Threatening the president is a felony, he said.

7. Investigation of school essay
Too bad someone didn't investigate the writings of Jeff Weise prior to the Red Lake Indian Massacre last spring. Where do you draw the line in teen and adolescent rants??

5. This kid should tell the SS they can't have
his essay. It is classified information. If the pres can withhold, so can he.

6. He could be ...
by chance, a reincarnation of the true spirit of Jefferson and our Forefathers.

However, he is not living in a time when his youthful, (and honest?) perspective will get him anything but surveillance and the SS checking him out as a dangerous threat.

This potentially psychotic monster should not get any notions of freedom or expression that goes beyond the norms and molds that have been placed before him to follow. Any deviation from that norm should get him on potent drugs, scar his scholastic record for life, and assure us all that he will be watched and that we will be protected from his wild, dangerous ideas in years to come.

Now THAT's what I call a tyrannical and repressive regime: Get them while they are young, BEFORE they represent any kind of threat to the system! We are getting down to the salient and potent issues that are seeping into every aspect of our culture like water seeps into the cracks in the pavement.

By the time this is done, the future generations will find that being normal and well-adjusted will be tantamount with doing what the government has told you, without variation or exceptions. The alternative will be death, imprisonment, drug therapy, brain surgery, starvation, etc. Oh gosh, we don't even have any idea what kind of technological cages are awaiting us in the Brave New World to come.

9. so maybe the kid needs help, but calling in the authorities . . .
and a Secret Service investigation are just a little ridiculous . . . but certainly in line with the direction this nation is heading . . .

if we don't get rid of BushCo AND convert our Democratic officials to populists, two years from now it will be straight to a detention camp for this kind of "threat" . . .
