Why is the White House stonewalling on the Katrina investigation?
Is it that if the hurricanes learn how we are trying to counter them, they will be able to evade our preparations, making us less safe?

1. Because it will likely reveal them as incompetent racist assholes? --

-- Your comment is excellent, Thor_MN. You've put the Bush administration's biggest lie in a box and stuffed them in there with it.

Very strong post. I'm casting a vote for you for 'Greatest.'

3. The same reason they stalled on the 9/11 report and every other
attempt to expose what it is doing - * can't handle the truth.

4. Could it be that they ignored reports of huge waves hitting MS, LA,,,
I know someone who worked for FEMA in MS who said reports of an 87 foot wave that hit near Biloxi was not reported and ignored by FEMA...lots of HORROR stories...

This is going to be a big story if it ever gets out.

6. when has this (mal)admin ever been forthcoming?
I think stonewall is SOP.

That said, I'll bet an investigation would reveal mass incompetence and fraud, or worse.

between all parties involved

Play the tapes - after all, they're there to protect the public  :woohoo:

20. I haven't seen it with regard to Katrina, though.
This is how it happened with Nixon in case you're too young to remember. First the activists freaked out. Then, the mainstream politicians did. Then, Nixon did.

billions and billions of dollars that they pissed away through no-bid contracts to haul ice to Massachusetts and Maine and back again . . . among other things . . .

11. Same reason they stonewall everything else
Because they can.
Because their incompetence led to disaster.
Because their incompetence was probably intentional.

13. Because it will prove that they deliberately withheld assistance
and they wanted the people of NO to drown or die from waterborne and airborne diseases. Then they wanted to scare the rest of the country into Marshall Law in order to protect us from the hordes of disease carrying, crazy, refugees that were going to come and invade our communities.

Good thing it did go the way they planned.

14. Because an investigation will reveal both greed and incompetence
Actually, a real investigation into anything these clowns have done for years would show the exact same results---greed out the wazzuuu, and total lack of ability to get a job done.

It's ridiculous---evil and stupid---this is our government that we pay for.

16. When they have to make a DVD for the leader of the country
to watch - DAYS AFTER THE HURRICANE HIT - it's obvious the incompetence went to levels beyond our imagination. The entire country was watching the horror unfold, except Shrub. He was clearing brush and playing the guitar and going to fundraisers. I'd love to see the emails sent among his aides for that period of time. That's what they're hiding.
