Pelosi, Dean, Reid: So when will we know what WE stand for???
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 09:11 AM by Laura PackYourBags
C-Span just ran a press conference with Boehner and Blunt. They succinctly stated, "We are the party of lower taxes and entreprenurial spirit.." Like it or not, they have capsulized their beliefs into clear, easy to understand messages.

Aren't you tired of the mantra that Democrats have no ideas and don't know what we stand for? How many times have you heard the Democrats say that they will work on coming up with a unified message? Constant repetition by our opponents will soon make these statements convention wisdom, if it hasn't already.

So when, Ms Pelosi, Dr. Dean, and Mr. Reid, will you lead our party in formulating our message?

Maybe they need some help? I would love to compile a list of our ideas here and send them to our leaders. Then they can chose.

Here's a couple off the top of my head, please add any and all you'd like.

We believe in :
"Protecting our homeland first against terrorist attacks."
"Bringing our soldiers home sooner rather than later"
"Putting the health of citizens first before protecting drug company profits"
"Cleaning our environment first before protecting corporate polluter profits."
"We are the party who will put Our People first before the interest of big business profits."
"Restoring our image in the world as a power for peace"

"People First" (their health, their justice, their education, their well-being and big business second)
"America First" (our security, our environment and other countries second)

We believe in:
"Restoring American honor, dignity, respect, and rights"
"Back to the basics: freedom, honor, truth, respect"
"Honest and respectful American representation"
"Putting a stop to borrow and spend irresponsibility"
"The party that stopped the selling of America"

Added: (from DMordue)
We believe in:
"Paying our bills now instead of passing them on to our children"
"Opportunity for all America's children."

Added: (from MzMolly)
We believe in a government that serves the people. (I like this because the opposite about Republicans is implied.)
We believe in proactive government.
We believe in helping all Americans pursue the American dream.
We believe in equality.

Added: (from DanCa)
We believe in human beings over embryos

Added: (from mythsaje)
We believe in government that is both responsive and responsible.

Added: (from FLDem5)
We believe in "equality for ALL Americans, at work and at home"

Added: (from whoseinpower)
We believe in people over profits."

Added: (from Hubert Flottz)
We believe in The Chicken Hawks vs the Chicken Hearted

2. Democrats, by their very nature, will not tow the party line
as well as Republicans do.

We are free thinkers.

Rarely do we "all agree" on anything.

We use real science and we trust raw facts.

The problem is that most Americans do not want to think. They are happier as sheep.

19. I agree with you.
It's disappointing that even our elected Democrats seem to care less about the people that elected them than they do the corporations that donated to their campaigns.

3. they need to hire an ad agency
The republicans operate like they have one. The Dems get beat on the communication front because of this. the other part is getting organized behind the communication message.

You are correct that if they repeat The Big Lie often enough, it becomes "truth." Saying they are the party of lower taxes when they have driven us into the financial morass that they have is incredible, but they do it.

It boggles my mind how many bots they have out there calling talk radio and saying the "Dems have no ideas." I just heard one on AirAmerica AGAIN, the other day.

8. That's what I've been saying. Professional marketing is needed.
We also need a form of "management/communication" that we've not had.

Hey, love that bumper sticker! :hi:

12. You are so right. It just seems to me like basic organizational
and communication theory and skill are missing. What is so difficult about coming up with basic, simple ideas and tenets that all can agree on, then meet and orchestrate how to spread the message??

Maybe part of the problem is that we really don't have anyone "in charge"? I am not saying that everyone isn't trying, but it is just that the party not in power has no one really in charge, that everyone will listen to? Maybe Dr Dean could have been that person, but unfortunately he became a lightning rod and some distance themselves from him?
