13. Do grammar police correct people with speech problems too?
I really am starting to think that the grammar cops don't care about people with disabilities.
I mean I can't feel the keyboard keys when I type and I can't tell you how many put downs I receive from the religious write. Real class guys real class. Making fun out of people with hand tremors and involuntary hand movements.

4. well grammar obviously.
its obvious the root of our problem is poor communication. Therefore if we can communicate more clearly things would be better... :sarcasm:

6. That makes perfect sense!
:eyes:

Begs the question, how is it that someone so inept at communication is the "great leader of our country"

7. Is he inept?
The argument could be made that it's all a deliberate scheme in order to appear 'folksy'. Intentionally using improper grammar, pronunciation, and idioms in order to downplay his Andover/Yale/Harvard pedigree. Film of him prior to running for office shows, usually, a very eloquent though not loquacious speaker, who even to some degree exudes the charisma people still claim he has. Perhaps it's because of an ailment, but his 'folksy-ness' has been used on many occasion to portray Bush as "The guy you'd rather have a beer with."

Of course I don't buy that argument. I think he has a debilitating mental disorder and we'll all know it in ten years, just like with Reagan.

9. I know why.
The header of your topic should have read "Larger fish to fry:". Placing a question mark instead of a colon in the header was improper grammar.

A human being with a good heart and bad grammar is always welcome in my home. Just don't be a Republican. That's all I ask!

14. Other.
I can't count the times that DUers have spelled "huh" and/or "wow" backwards. I can't believe that I am alone in my concerns that this will discredit us in neoconservative circles. Our chances of having Lonnie Anderson's hair legalized by the fall elections becomes remote when we fail to address this issue.

23. My cousin used to
wish he had a long tail that could hold a make-up mirror, so that he could look behind himself as he walked forward. It is my contention that smoking pot made him think this way, though if I'm ever called to court to testify, I'd have to admit that he is actually my 2nd cousin -- though he's first in my book. I'm not sure if I could plead the 5th on that, or indeed if there might be a statue of imitations on this planet known as "Bob."

17. LOL. Well let's be fair there are always nice ways to correct grammar.
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 10:54 AM by DanCa
I just have a problem with people demeaning another person's intelligence when there are other causes for grammar errors . Note it took me four damn tries to correct this post alone because of my hands.

24. There are nice ways,
I suppose, though it's usually not necessary to point out such errors. I am always mildly annoyed by people lacking the ability to spell "Gandhi." If those who are so deeply impressed by his life can't have the respect to spell it correctly, and instead write "Ghandi," I'm suspicious that they are actually feigning admiration for him. It shouldn't be too much to ask, though perhaps Gandhi himself would gently ask me to lighten up.
