Why the threats against Iran?
Could it be that Iran has more influence in the Shia areas of Iraq than does Bush or any of our puppets in that country that we would prefer to see in power. The elections did not go well. In fact, they went terrible. Even Chalabi had to be appointed Oil Minister , the only meaningful post anyways, to only one month extended because he received such a minimal amount of votes. So who do we think is responsible for that? Iran? The folks that won the landslide in the last purple-finger election are very friendly to the Iranian clergymen. And therefore, the Bush Administration feels obliged to threaten them in hopes they will not encourage the Shias to do anything counter American interests?

1. to prove his dad didn't sell us to iran to win the election in 80
even tho he did

rest assured there will no attacks on the marvelous bush family friend iran, we will continue attacking iran's enemy iraq as pay-off for bush family favors

the noise and bombast is sheer distraction aimed at the stupid people, we needn't worry about it

i find if we pay attention to actions rather than words, it's most illuminating

both bush presidents had the great deed of their presidency to attack iran's blood enemy, iraq

they can spout any words they like, but their actions speak louder

2. Iranian Oil Bourse opens in March
If the oil producers start trading oil in Euros en masse, what do you suppose all the oil consuming nations will do with their dollar reserves?

3. All of the above plus
a very strong element of wag the dog. If the danger is hyped enough, they feel we'll all thank them for tapping our phones.
