David Gregory on Conan last night: Anybody see him making fun of *?
It was hilarious.

I can't really tell the jokes because a lot of what made it funny was Gregory's story telling savvy. He had Bush down pat.

If you see a rerun advertised be sure to catch it.

1. I saw it and you're right - it was a riot
Did you catch Bette Midler trying to contain herself next to him? Gregory did have blivet** down pat, sounded exactly like him.

He told a story about being with blivet** and Chirac in France. He asked blivet** a question in english, then turned to ask Chirac a question in french. blivet** got ticked and made a big deal about the french question and responded in spanish after calling Gregory out for it. Chirac, meanwhile, just looked at blivet** as if to say "That is not funny". then later they returned to France and blivet** made the joke that he had brought his french speaking reporter back. Chirac, again, was not amused.

He also told a story about stuffing blivet**'s pocket with a handkerchief before a photo-op of the two of them at a holiday party given for the press. It was very funny and Gregory is a very effective story teller.

I agree with you. If and when it reruns, it is worth a look.

3. via Dictionary.com
I had no clue what it meant, either:

Blivet

/bliv'*t/ "ten pounds of manure in a five-pound bag"] 1. An intractable
problem.

2. A crucial piece of hardware that can't be fixed or replaced
if it breaks.

3. A tool that has been hacked over by so many incompetent
programmers that it has become an unmaintainable tissue of
hacks.

4. An out-of-control but unkillable development effort.

5. An embarrassing bug that pops up during a customer demo.

6. In the subjargon of computer security specialists, a
denial-of-service attack performed by hogging limited
resources that have no access controls (for example, shared
spool space on a multi-user system).

I like it, though. :toast:

7. One * is for 2000
when he was selected and one * is for 2004 when he stole it. I can't remember who said it, but someone made the statement after the 2000 selection that blivet** will be the only president to appear in history books with an asterisk and a footnote stating that he was not properly elected but rather appointed by the Supreme Court. He will now need two footnotes in the history books.

9. like "*"...
the single "*" is for not really winning 2000 (like in baseball stats for a doper), and the double "**" is for winngin 2004 through fraud.
