It is so uncivilized. I would feel the same if it were temples, mosques, or synagogues. Why must people be so heartless and insensitive?

1. Personally I'm against it
but if some of the loud-mouth churches should get whomped by "An Act Of God" I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Unfortunately the idiots that do stuff like this never try to burn down Falwell's church.

7. I think most of the churches were predominately white congregations but
I could be wrong. In any case, no matter the congregation makeup, it is a disgrace to this nation that those among us would still be doing this. I don't agree with Falwell on most issues, but I don't think it is ok to burn down his church.

You know...it sounds like bored teenagers to me. Unless the southern baptists have some group after them.

They may do a lot with which we don't agree, but burning churches is not one of their tenets.

You're probably right--bored teens with a racist streak.

Terry Schiavo. Haven't heard anything from Bush on matters like these.

16. Intolerane of Christians in general, or
just (mostly) Baptists? And if * spoke up about intolerance shown to Xians in the US, he'd be laughed off the stage.

"... Ingram said the fires late Thursday and early Friday destroyed both the churches of predominantly black congregations and predominantly white congregations."

The best you get out of it is either they screwed up (and we suppose facts that aren't in evidence for the sake of supporting the narrative we already believe), that it was just random, or that it was against Christians?

Easier to claim anti-Xian violence than anti-black, on the face of it. But I don't see a point in arguing for either; events happened, there are presumably facts to be unearthed that would either falsify or support any argument I bother to make now. I can wait.

3. What is Pat Robertson gonna blame this one on? Shame about
their churches, interestingly enough that it was both predominently black or predominently white congregations, the headline made me wonder if it were a racial thing.

5. It's about the terror. My guess?
Out of towners who screwed up a job intended for black churches.

Neo-cons spreading terror.

Hate groups tend to be proud of their work and brag.

Lets see who claims responsibility.

19. A "good" christian would not do something like this.
It is not "christlike". No, this is more sinister. It is a message to a particular community, and not the Christian one. I can see a RWnut doing this because the heart and the political sense of the black community is the church.

18. Looks like it time to go out and lynch some atheists! We can't let
these godless heathens run around and burn our churches and rape our daughters! What? No daughters raped? Well, can the raping for our daughters by these godless atheists be far behind? We have to stop these godless arsonists/rapists now before this spreads! Get the ropes! We have to stop these atheist/gay/rapists from killing more Christians! I am being sarcastic, but I am also afraid that this is how these events are going to be used; it's a smaller version of the Reichstags fire and 9/11. Everything changed once they started burning our churches...

23. Did anyone consider... COMPETITION?
You can't throw a rock in Alabama without hitting a church.

It's a question of money, people. More and more churches springing up daily around here and that means the market share of lemmings is getting smaller.

I think it was competition.
