Let's put the responsibility where it lay. Lobbyists don't work for us - Congress does.

Lobbys are not inherently bad, they perform a very important function. They are paid by interest groups (which aren't all bad either) to monitor legislation and the way it will effect their clients. When a Client finds a bill that is adverse to their cause the lobby goes back to Congress makes their client's case and asks for the appropriate changes. There is nothing wrong with that. It's up to the Congressperson to weigh the needs of the lobby against the needs of the people at large.
Buying a change with campaign contributions and favors is unethical if not illegal. For every favor offered there is a favor accepted. For every influence bought there is influence sold. When there is a breach of the trust it has two participants.
Hang 'em both . . .
