1. Hers is a very precarious position... |
|
If she's perceived by Democrats as being too weak or conciliatory in her dealings with the Bush administration, then she will be vulnerable. If she blocks attempts to impeach Bush, then she will be even more vulnerable.
I do not envy her. Nancy is trying to institute a new Democratic vision for Congress while also reassuring Republicans that there will be bipartisanship in the 110th Congress. But there is a time for bipartisanship and a time for undoing the evil that has been visited upon our nation.
America is watching...

Lose to who? A Republican? Don't be silly. A Green? Don't make me laugh.

3. As Speaker by the Dem Caucus? very , very unlikely |
|
As a Member of Congress? Her seat is one of the safest in the nation. She've never had anyone come close in the primary or general.

5. "Safest?" Her fellow SF Dems consider her "too conservative" |
|
All it takes is one grassroots liberal/progressive Dem to challenge Pelosi in the next primary, especially if she gives in to Bush on the troop escalation in Iraq, and Pelosi's career in Congress is over.

7. Then someone can step up in 2008 |
|
Until then the record shows she has never had a strong challenge including in 2006.
