WaPo runs smear attack on John Edwards.... |
|
This is total bull. There is absolutely nothing untoward about this deal. They made over $1 million on their mansion in Georgetown? BFD. That's chump change. This is much ado about nothing, but I'm not surprised. Oh, by the way Washington Post, I'm still waiting to find out who bought GW Bush's stock in Harken. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/18/AR2007011802077.html

:sarcasm: What are you expecting? Your guy is running for president on a poverty platform. If it is the worse they can find, he should consider himself happy. (Welcome to the club, though).

3. No, the "how did they dare" refers to attack the Edwards. |

This is a very small smear job. Do not get upset about this. It will get A LOT WORSE.
There has already been three threads about this non-story, as if Edwards supporters did not think their guy should be attacked. May be being a supporter of Kerry made me used to this type of stupidity, sometimes coming from other candidates directly...

7. Going thru the details of the buyer's legal troubles seems a bit much - no? |
|
It has nothing to do with Edwards.

8. So what? Expect a lot more... |
|
whether it is reality-based or not. The NYTimes has written articles about how long Hillary and Bill spend together. There were numerous stories about Gore and Love Story. Did you seriously expect that Edwards would avoid this type of BS? (and note this is John Solomon, the man who wrote articles after articles trying to find ethics flaws in Harry Reid...).

9. I'm well aware of Solomon... |

and I expect he'll be trying to make a name for himself at the expense of high profile Dems in the coming years.

14. Don't misread my purpose for posting this... |
|
Edwards is not "my guy". Nobody is "my guy" or "my lady" right now. I'm pissed off about it in principal, as I would have been pissed off if it were any Democratic candidate being smeared. Pissed, but not at all surprised, par for the course.

4. There have been a few stories in the Post about the house |
|
It's been a symbol of the slowing real estate market for the last year. I'm glad it's been sold because I'm tired of reading about it.
It is a little strange that the buyer was not disclosed but whatever.
I don't know how any rich politician can sell a house and not have it appear to be a conflict of interest since some other rich person is bound to buy it.

5. WaPo hired Solomon to do hit pieces on Democrats - it's what he does. |
|
I expect them to make a real run at taking down Harry Reid before 2008.

6. Sounds like the same sort of thing... |
|
The SCLM pulled on the Clintons about cattle futures...when in fact the Clintons LOST over $6000 on them. Also smacks, a little bit, of the charges relating to Whitewater...which, of course, were totally without merit, too.
Yes, expect more of this kind of smear over the next several months...as if making a profit on the sale of a house is a bad thing. Plus, it looks as though the Edwards have sold their home in Raleigh; you'll probably hear something stirred up about what they made off of THAT sale, as well..:eyes:

10. Oh, paaleeeze. What a waste of my time reading that article. |
|
Why don't you (WaPo) spend some time printing something important, like the crooks in the White House mansion. Oh, wait, that might entail spending some money on real reporting, I forgot. :sarcasm:

I am still waiting to see even one photograph of the Bush's Crawford ranch mansion. Media seems quite happy to give misleading impression that Bush has just a very modest little one story 'ranch' house there.

13. No problem--actually good. |
|
This is a non-story, but it's good that anything that might possibly, potentially raise eyebrows is coming out now, well before the campaigns. This is exactly the type of story that can be thrown out and distorted at the last minute to raise questions about a candidate. It is good that it is being aired now, so it means NOTHING later on.
