Police discover cock fighting enterprise

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Police in Holyoke discover what they are calling an illegal cock fighting organization.

Police conducting a drug raid on a Holyoke home earlier this week found more than just marijuana.

Chief Anthony Scott says officers found ten fighting roosters and a cock fighting ring in the basement where fights took place.

Three people were arrested on drug charges during the original raid on Tuesday, and two more were arrested yesterday on animal cruelty charges.

Ernesto Reyes and Joel Pagan are charged with owning, possession or training of fighting animals and cruelty to animals. They were released on personal recognizance.

Police say Christian Nieves, Lizmary Mastache and Paul Rodriguez all face drug charges. They were released on bail.
