North American Union/Globalization |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 06:37 PM by BayCityProgressive
WHat does everyone think of these issues? As a progressive, I oppose nationalism and fear mongering regarding other cultures. I would love a world without borders where trade and travel is free between people. I believe this would go a long way in eliminating war. The problem I have is the "free trade" deals and other reactionary means that globalization is currently being pushed. I would even support a North American Union if it was done in a progressive way to lift the people of Mexico out of poverty, not push Americans and Canadians into competion for low wages with them..

and it's the reason I oppose a world government/NAU.
Think about this one question: What happens if a dictator rises to power in a world government?

I think a one world government would be quite ways off. COuldn't you say that about the US already? Bush, if not a dictator, is extremely close to one...and no one can do anythign about it now! Also think of the positive side:
workers could form worldwide unions to oppose the elite's plans and worldwide movements for change could be started much more quickly and effectively.. I see what you are saying though. Everything has a positive and negative side..

4. Yes, you could say that about the USA, but I want that to be reversed... |
|
I don't want to expand the powers of a single person to cover the entire North American continent.
