I've put away all the cute, snarky nicknames.... |
|
...for the criminal cabal for the foreseeable future. The situation has turned deadly serious and our responses should be in kind to elevate our credibility here at DU. I will use last names and occasionally titles, but it's my belief that it is time to spread our influence by creating a level of seriousness that will attract the fence sitters and detractors to our side.

3. Amen to that, although calling him "Bush" is a hard pill to swallow. |
|
I won't addend onto that name the title of "President", though.
But, I completely agree, we are past the point of name calling. We need to name them, and attach their crimes to their names.

8. Me, too. I have to put away my e.e. cummings inspired "gwb". I was trying to make him as small and |
|
unpresidential as possible.
However, Bush x( is now a criminal of the highest order, and is about to go down in history as the most dangerous despot ever to be visited on the world.
His name will capitalized in the Hague's record, anyway. MKJ

6. It's always been deadly serious... |
|
since the year 2000. My use of "snarky" names is my small way of showing my extreme contempt, disrespect and disregard for this band of thugs and criminals who have usurped my government.

I don't think I can hang up my favorite nickname for him, pResident Evil. (And that's "nickname" as in "Old Nick".) I also like **, to make him as small as possible. It's a shame I have to even add that second *. But you're right--it's always been deadly serious. Just ask our troops or people living in Katrina's wake.

9. Nah, I just can't do it |
|
even though I know calling him Stupid is off putting to the poor saps who were corrupt/stupid/deluded enough to vote for him. Tough.
If those people are reading this particular forum, then they've already realized what that man is and they are not pleased about being fooled.
There are some forums less dedicated to keeping wingnuts at bay, and I do use the proper names there.
However, stupid is as stupid does and he has forever lost any right to the dignity of prissy correctness on a protected forum, and Stupid he will be in my posts.

10. That's a very wise approach, IMHO. The 2008 election will NOT be about Bush |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 11:02 AM by mcscajun
Thank goodness. His record may certainly be something to hang around the necks of any Republican...ANY and ALL Republicans running for President certainly, but our focus must begin to shift from belittling and attacking Bush to What Comes Next.
Off to the Greatest Page with you. :)

11. since when does seriousness attract fence sitters? |
|
it's the cute, snarky nicknames that win over the marginal voter.
the ones who do their homework and think will vote for our side anyway.
sad, but true.

13. bush has always been "Little Boots" to me |
|
I don't capitalize his name, never have, because he gets no respect from me. AFAIC, Little Boots is appropriate because he is our era's Caligula.
By the way, the situation has been deadly serious since Dec. 12, 2000, since that is when the Supreme Court made their decision which paved the way.
Also, DU has plenty of credibility for those who keep up with the real news. I don't care squat about impressing freepers and the right wing. All anyone needs to do is look at the enormous respect that H20 Man gets on DU, the responses on his threads, and you can see there's plenty of seriousness to go around on this forum.

MSM forums. When a member of a Cincinnati group called Democracy for Cincinnati used repuke in an MSM blog comment, I pointed out in a private email that it did not help us and made us look immature. He welcomed the comment.

Cute doesn't work for these evil bastards. I'm going to have to watch my language, though, because the F word springs to mind whenever I think of them.
