Actual UPI Headline!!! "Jan. 2007 trial date for 'Scotter' Libby"
(Would this be a typo, or a "Freudian slip" by the editor? Note: This is from UPI NewsTrack, which is re-edited News stories, usually distorting them to change them into RW propaganda. The original was in the AP, other typos and mis-spellings have not been corrected either. Here's the link to the DU thread with the original)

Jan. 2007 trial date for 'Scotter' Libby

Feb. 3, 2006 at 1:44PM

Former White House aide Lewis "Scooter" Libby has been given a Jan. 8, 2007, date for his federal trial on perjury and other charges.

Libby served as Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff until he was indicted Oct. 28 on five counts of perjury and obstruction of justice related to the leaking of the name of a CIA operative. Libby has pleaded innocent to all charges....

3. No I think this is probably true...
I caught about 15 min of the Ed Schultz show and they were talking about this... How some pro-Bush judge gave them 'time' to get all the documents they're asking for so it'll take the case into next yr...

:sarcasm: I'm sure that it has nothing to do with the elections in Nov at all...

5. I think you missed the typo I'm pointing out.
Scott-er as opposed to Scoot-er.

Oh damn, looks like they fixed it already.:evilfrown:

6. I heard that on the local AAR station this morning.
They gave a reason for it being so long, but I don't remember it.

8. The Real Reason?
The real reason is that a January trial date puts the unpleasant publicity well past the elections.

9. I just remembered the reason they gave.
Libby's lawyer has time conflicts. Sounds pretty bizarre to me that a lawyer has all his time booked for a year.

And also they don't want Judge Reggie Walton too much in case Russ Tice and Sibel Edmonds "act up" some more with other lawsuits that he'll need to be "randomly" assigned to (and dismiss) in the mean time.

17. Ah, yes, reminds me of the "wire service joke."
When I worked at the AP, everybody knew this one. It was a two-parter: you can't spell "CHEAP" without AP, and you can't spell "STUPID" without UPI!
