Did anyone see Bill Clinton on "60 Minutes" tonight? I was stunned by how
tired he looked. He's working on behalf of AIDS and ending this global plague.

He is very thin and gaunt. Dan Rather mentioned it to him as well. Clinton replied that he was working very hard because he needed to do what he could to make a difference with the time he has left.

:wow:

I am much older than Clinton and I'm not thinking that way yet. Is he dying? Could he have cancer or some other debilitating disease?

1. He looked to be at about an ideal weight
but yes, he did seem older and grayer. Three major surgeries within a year have definitely taken a toll on him, as they would any younger and healthier man.

Yes, on a human level i like Clinton but this is the same guy who passed NAFTA, and cut the Welfare payments to states under the REpublican initiatives

2. Heart Surgery can do this
My mother had it, my brother-in-law has had 3 bypass surgeries. My brother-in-law told my mom, "You're going to feel like "hell" for about a year. Because people get out of the hospital so quickly, they don't realize the healing that is required for this operation. My guess is he will be looking much better in a few months.

It didn't sound to me like he was planning on dying soon, but he is a mover and a shaker and I believe he needs to be making a difference. Perhaps his heart surgery made him realize that he needs to do the best he can with the years remaining.

3. Trust me, if Bill Clinton were dying, it would be headline news.
I think it is just that he is keeping his weight very low, and he has an unfortunate face - one that shows all the lines and bags. His face is very expressive, also -- so that is probably what we are seeing. I saw him, too, and thought he looked tired.
the remarks about time he has left are probably just talking about until HIllary becomes President -- or maybe he is talking about the fact that none of us knows how much time we have left. His mother died relatively young, and his stepfather and his real father are both dead. Life is tenuous.

4. I saw the show
and I thought Bill Clinton looked frail.
I wonder how long we will have him around. I hope for a long time but he doesn't seem well.

Another thing I noticed was how much above Bush he is in every way.

5. He may not be dying, but his surgeries may have given him a
knock on the door re: mortality.

Nothing is guaranteed for any of us, regardless of age or health; he knows that better than most.

6. Old Rerun
I have seen Clinton in recent appearances and he looked rather healthy to me. He has lost some weight but all in all I think he looks good. Check out the recent Esquire Mazagine cover with him on it, I think he looks FABULOUS and i certainly agree with Esquire that he is the best and brightest. I'm not an Esquire reader but you can bet I bought that issue.

7. I thought he looked great
But let's face it, we are all getting older and we are all dying. Remember, as Bush said, "in the end we will all be dead."

10. He looked older, yes ... but not frail.
.... he's definitely not the 50-something jogging, golfing, McDonald's-eating Big Dawg that he used to be, but given that he did have open heart surgery which is incredibly harsh on the body .... I think he looks well. Tired - and aren't we all after 5 years of Bush Bullshit ? - but still well.

:hi:

12. Funny that all those heart surgeries don't seem to bother
Dick Cheney. I think he has one of those Go'auld sarcophagi from Stargate in his bunker that rejuvenates him. Or, he's a vampire.

16. I am so proud of Clinton
He could be doing anything he wanted to now: playing golf, or just taking it easy and living it up. Especially after the major heart surgery he went through, I don't think anyone (except the right-wingers, lol) would blame him if he decided to retreat from public life and just take it easy.

Instead, he has continued the work that he first began post-presidency: trying to get cheaper AIDS meds to the people who really need them.

What a wonderful human being! And exactly the type of leadership we need and deserve in a President. Too bad we don't have it right now.

17. Unfortunately, his valiant efforts to control AIDS is being undermined by
Bush and the religious freaks he caters to because the programs they support nix condom used, which is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of AIDS.

18. Life is unfair. Clinton is not looking well, while Darth Cheney...
looks strong as an ox, even with his gazillion heart problems. Maybe Cheney is not human. Maybe he's some kind of extraterrestrial, as in that old sci fi movie, They Live.

22. I saw President Clinton on cspan a few days ago
There was some tribute to him with loads of speakers and he looked pretty good that night, in fact he looked damn good. I was surprised because before that he was looking sickly. I guess as the months go by he looks better and better. I didn't see this interview but maybe it was the studio lighting.

24. Since his surgeries, he seems to have good days and bad days.
My Dad had quad bypass at 70 and it really took him a long time to come around.

I wish that Bill would cut down some on his activities and rest more, so that he doesn't wear himself out. The world faces many, many problems that will need leadership for a long time. I don't want to see Bill in the express check-out lane--he has so much to offer.

26. Consider how long LBJ lasted after his presidency
My Dad has always remarked that the Presidency is harder on Democrats than Repigs because Democrats tend to take it deadly-serious, while Repigs treat it like an invitation to put all four hooves in the trough and live large.

Looking at Pappy Bush, one begins to wonder if that evil old bastard has a picture of Dorian Gray tucked away somewhere.

But Bill Clinton's looking poorly.

I think Dad may've been right.
