|
Edited on Fri Feb-03-06 07:12 PM by gatorboy
Several churches in Alabama were burned down. Tweety asks a local minister if he thinks it could be someone who supports gay marriage, etc.. :puke:

He was pushing his guests to name suspects and kept throwing out the idea that these church burnings might be political.
Yeah, let's blame gays, Chris! I'm sure we don't have a lot of homophobia as it is in Alabama, eh? Let's make life a little worse for people...
What a gasbag this little SOB is.

I remember several years ago there was a rash of church burnings, most of them were predominantly African-American churches. Just wonderin'.

28. How many of those churches got new roofs the day before the fires? |
|
I'm not being funny.
Churches LOVE atactic polypropylene "rubber roofs" (technically they're "modified bitumen" roofs--asphalt with chemicals added to make it rubbery) because they're cheap and don't leak.
I think APP should be banned for church roofs because of the way you apply it: you take this huge propane torch, heat the back of the APP membrane with it until the membrane starts to melt, then stick it down real quick. The torch in question looks like a three-pound coffee can welded to the end of a pipe, and almost without fail they get one of the parishioners to go up there and lay the new roof.
Google "church fire" and about half the entries will contain a comment about how someone was seen working on the roof with a torch the day before the fire started.
The OTHER huge cause of church fires is people working with boiled linseed oil inside the building. Someone comes in to re-oil the woodwork and buys a can of boiled linseed oil because, once again, it's not very expensive; you can get a whole gallon of this stuff for about seven dollars and you only ever need to buy one--a little goes a long way. It's applied by wiping it on with a cloth. Boiled linseed oil is a drying oil, and when it dries it generates heat--enough heat to ignite the oil-soaked rags you crumpled up and threw in the plastic trash can.
More churches are burned down by well-meaning parishioners than you'd think. Add the wiring problems a lot of churches have, and it's a wonder anyone has a place to conduct services.
Uhh...Rev. Cheesehead...I'm worried about ya, hon, what kinda roof do you have on your building?
