Will this new "Downing Street" report grow some legs?

It would be nice if one of the national news agencies would dedicate about a 5 to 10 minute spot detailing the "Downing Street Memos"! It would be nice if they would advertise this like crazy.

This needs to be know! It is saddening that all of this is going on, and a bigger fuss is not being made!

So, what is in this "mother of all Downing Street memos" which David Corn believes is evidence that Bush and Blair are "conspiring to create a modern-day version of the sinking of the Maine"? Yes, Corn actually uses the word conspiring--you know, as in "to be involved in a conspiracy", Here is the Channel4 'exclusive':

President Bush to Tony Blair: "The US was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours. If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach"

Corn calls this the equivalent of the sinking of the Maine, which is telling since he seems to believe that was a 'conspiracy' as well.

1. Tim, I hope to hell it does. Before his kowtowing to Bush on Iraq,
I respected Tony Blair a lot. This photo is a bit strident but the message has clout. Now it needs legs, as you say.

My fingers are crossed.

2. the corporate media will only discuss it if bloggers go crazy
over it. So far, I don't even see that happening. I think the left is dog-tired from trying to defeat Alito. Maybe if bloggers like Corn and a few other nationally known bloggers will deep it in the forefront, the people will catch up and then the corporate media won't have an alternative but to give it 5 minutes or so.

4. But their report will be about bloggers going crazy over it
they still won't actually report on the memos. (I really hope I'm wrong about that.)

5. The corporate media will do its best to ignore the story in hopes it will
fade away. It's up to the ever growing blogosphere to push the story front and center.

9. Silver bullets
Never work.

It will take a LOT of work to unseat Bush. Hoping ONE thing to topple this evil administration is daydreaming at its worst.

12. Silver bullets do work on human/animal hybrids, though.
Werewolves, for example.

14. the point is it is not ONE thing
Bush's list of lies, crimes and treasonous acts goes one and on. That is why I am not hopeful. Had he been a democrat he would have been impeached and out of office a very long time ago.

8. It is like NOTHING seems to matter to the Amurikans any more.
It is so disheartening. I don't know if it is because the American media won't give it the time of day, or if the people are stupid or really don't care.

Maybe it is a combination of the three. I feel the masses will only wake up when THEY are affected; and until then, they could care less about what happens to "other people.":banghead:

How many impeachable offenses does it take?:nuke:

11. And even when they are affected most refuse to connect the dots
My in-laws support Bush, even though they are barely hanging on to what's left of the safety net Bush is dismantling.

Same goes for people I know who support Bush and gripe about the cost of gas and high heating bills. No, there's no connection between price gouging and Bush's energy policies.

10. No. Many Americans just don't care, and the corporate media
will quickly slip this into the memory hole.

This memo, along with the other Downing Street memos, the Abramoff scandal, Valerie Plame, no WMDs, illegal wiretaps, and the list goes on and on, should amount to a full-blown crisis for Bush.

What do we get on corporate news shows? Trapping pedophiles, runaway brides, shark attacks, missing white girls, moms who kill their kids, etc., etc.

Like the old tree falling in the woods question: If a scandal happens to Bush and there's no independent media there to investigate and report it, did it really happen?

16. Too bad you guys missed Olbermann
While you guys complain about how the MSM won't touch it, he's already on it.

18. I know he discussed it,
but how many people have access to MSNBC? I know a lot of people who do not have cable or satellite. I would like to see 60 Minutes, or Dateline take the ground work Keith Olberman laid and take it a step further.

I know I am asking too much. Just a little frustrated.
