DOD Announces Readiness To Deploy Troops On U.S Soil.
WASHINGTON -- Paul McHale, the Defense Department's first assistant secretary for homeland security, admitted he is surprised there has not been a major attack by terrorists on U.S. soil since 9-11, but he also announced that U.S. troops are ready for whenever it does happen.

Snip...

He said that he is surprised there has not been an attack similar to the one on Sep. 11, 2001 already, but quickly added that the credit goes to defense operations. He credited reinforced defenses within the U.S. and antiterrorism operations in foreign lands. Those efforts have prevented terrorists from launching additional attacks.

Snip..

"Now, active-duty soldiers and sometimes active-duty Marines are prepared to deploy on our own soil to defend against a foreign threat," explained McHale. "We have active-duty units on a short alert, ready to respond if civilian law enforcement and the National Guard cannot defeat an emergency terrorist threat on our own soil."

1. logic 101
Why do terrorists need to attack us on our own soil when
USA citizens and BushInc have harmed and killed enough
of our own people, while subverting laws and the Constitution
enough to make us our own worst enemies?

3. You're right.
If you think about it, the terrorists have already won. America is on the downhill slide, it's pathetic what a bunch of terrified sheep the public has become since 9/11. All they had to do was set things in motion and our citizens and their idiot leader have chosen to destroy ourselves. What a boon for Bush and the military industrial complex. Ugh!

8. And of those "terrified sheep"...
Many don't even live in an area that was attacked or ever will be attacked.

5. So NORAD will be on the job the next time???
For reasons never explained they stood down on 9/11. Hopefully if another plane attack is used they will be able to prevent it next time 'round.

19. This little known damning fact alone proves 9/11 was an inside job
We spend more on defense than all other nations combined but our government expects us to believe we had no plan in place to protect ourselves from airplane hijackings...absurd!

We have fighter jets with orders to intercept a plane within minutes if anything goes wrong(see payne stewart) and yet on 9/11 they were a bunch of bumbling idiots that couldn't even make it to the pentagon in time and they were 10 miles away.

I know it is hard for many to believe that our government would actually kill it's own people, many lefties react with anger if you try to explain it to them, but we must face it and do everything in our power to stop them. The proof is also in the fact they used the attack to start a 'long war' on unrelated countries. Who would do THAT? These bastards are monsters that will not stop unless we stop them.

17. Just playing Devil's Advocate here for a second...
Yes there is such a law, the Posse Commitatus Act. But I believe that doesn't apply if we're deploying federal troops to fight a foreign threat. For example, if China or Russia ever really did invade the US, I dont think that anyone would seriously expect us NOT to fight them because of that law.

That being said, I agree with the point, and it points out just why this "war on terrah" is a fraud - there is no well-defined enemy, it's whomever they say it is.

12. BTW, after looking over that site in the link, it's very right-wing
Know thy audience. This news report was written directly to republicans who hide under their kitchen sinks in fear. Now they won't have any reason to come out, they know the military is on the job.

very right-wing site

14. The Terra-ists surely know by now that everyone in America has
gone out and gotten several rolls of Duct Tape and a couple of 20'X 1,000' rolls of polyethylene plastic, from home despot and that we're ready for them to "Bring It On!" I haven't seen any Arabic frogmen, or a crop duster here for several years now, so I think the tape and plastic are working fine and for lots cheaper than F-16s with Sidewinders.

20. Depends On The Definition Of "Is"
Are we the people soon to be designated as terrorists? We have already been accused of consorting with the enemy. More detention centers being built, soldiers ready to take prisoners in the US, trying for control of the Internet. Can internment be far behind?
