Mrs. King's funeral procession on CNN now.
A horse drawn carriage is bringing her to the Georgia State Capital where she will lie in state.

Godspeed, Mrs. King.

1. Amen, SG. I'm reminded that Mrs. King's husband's body...
was not allowed to lie in honor in Georgia's Capitol. Lester Maddox was governor of the state.

4. Maddox was also outraged at state flags flying at half mast.
I will never understand the hate that lives within people.

Saturday's tribute is just one of several her husband, the famed civil rights leader, never received in a climate of segregation.

"This is not just a salute to Mrs. King. It's a tribute to her and her husband, and to all they stood for and did," said U.S. Representative John Lewis.

When King died in 1968, then-Governor Lester Maddox refused to participate in his funeral ceremonies, and was outraged to see state flags, then dominated by the Confederate Cross, flying at half-staff for a black man.

But for his widow, Governor Sonny Perdue and his wife will escort her casket into the Capitol along with the Kings' four children.

2. I'm watching it now. I had the honor of having brief contact with her what
seems like aeons ago. The law firm I worked for handled Dr. King's estate. She was a lovely, gracious woman and although this is so sad, I know she is in a better place right now. Blessings to her and her family.
