WA State and OR State is having a sever hurricane force wind storm!
Here in Everett area, it's 60 mph and at times clocking at 90 mph. Lot of people will lose power, which mean, they may not be able to watch Super Bowl tomorrow. I still have power at the moment, however, I don't know for how long.

On the other side of the mountain, it's not going to be as bad.

3. Oh my! Please stay safe! I've never been to Everett, but
I've been to the Seattle and Peugeot Sound area. I remember LOTS of hugh pine trees. Can they sustain winds like that?

5. A real fear is that the trees
will be more easily uprooted because the ground has been saturated for weeks now.

16. Be very careful of carbon monoxide poisoning. I don't know how
yours is vented, but if it's burning kerosene it's producing caron monoxide.

We always read every year about someone who has lost power using petroleum based heaters/stoves and being poisoned.

4. Yep...it's quite a storm...
The wind is shrieking outside and the rain is falling but we haven't lost power here yet, thankfully. Of course, we're on a hospital grid, so our power would be restored pretty quickly.

Weather is sure interesting, isn't it?

9. I'm in Portland
and it's not that bad here, mostly just raining. I think Seattle got it worse and the coast got it really bad.

11. We got it here in Portland about 4 am.
It woke me up, but by 5 or so it had died down.

Here's the Doppler, you're right in the middle of it!

High Winds Down Trees, Knock Out Power
PORTLAND, Ore. - Winds reaching 75mph raked northwest coastlines overnight Friday and into Saturday morning, knocking out power to thousands of people and sending trees across highways.

Rain accompanied the wind, further weakening root systems and sending trees down across highways leading to coastal locations .

The powerful storm came ashore near Vancouver B.C. overnight, with near-hurricane force winds and heavy rain.

14. Mostly rain, but some gusty wind in Portland
4 a.m. was probably the worst of it. First time weather has woken me up since we put siding on the house. Really freaked out the cats, though they're resting much more comfortably now.

15. Heads up: will be moving inland across the states
Forecasters said to expect 40 mile-per-hour winds with gusts to 60 mph, on hilltops up to 70 mph, and the coast 75 mph.

The winds are being generated by a strong low-pressure system that's on track to cross the Olympic Peninsula or southern Vancouver Island Saturday. There won't be a lot of rain with the system, but precipitation will be heavier in the mountains, making travel difficult through the Cascade passes.

The winds will pick up Saturday in Eastern Washington, slightly less intense than on the west side, but forecasters say this could be the strongest wind storm in Western Washington in several years.

The storm is also expected to bring significant amounts of snow in the mountains, which together with strong winds will make travel over the mountains very hazardous or even impossible.

18. The peninsula is not so bad
Bremerton has gusting wind, but no real fierce sustained winds.

Just in case, I will, be packing a gas powered generator up to the house where we will be watching the Superbowl. There is NO WAY after 30 YEARS that I am going to miss the Hawks first appearance in the Superbowl.

NO WAY!

20. Very strong gusts with hail near Vancouver where I live.
Woke me up with the hail pounding against the windows about 4am. Blew over in about 1/2 hour. We'll be picking up downed branches and taking them to the recyclers. But, living on 3 acres with 1 1/2 acres forest, I'm a familiar sight unloading my truck.
