How the cartoon issue reached critical mass (new info)
This cartoon issue didn't get to critical mass before ultra-right Muslim clerics from Denmark went on a tour of Egypt and Saudi Arabia with dossiers of the cartoons plus three illustrations NOT part of the original 12, with "vague sourcing", illustrating:

- Mohammad with the face of a pig
- Mohammad the Molestor
- Moslem male in prayer being "done" by a dog from behind.

Bet you a lot of Muslims think these 3 illustrations are part of what the Danish newspapers published and of course, aren't inclined to go looking at the cartoons to see for themselves. And a Jordanian tabloid editor who did print the authentic 12 has been arrested for blasphemy.

This and other "historical information" as Condi would say:

2. The Danish Paper's Apology Also Noted These Other Worse Pictures That Were
not part of their doing whatsoever.

I can't find the link right now but I know yesterday I saw their paper's statement on the issue and that was part of it.

3. the true story behind our burning embassy in Syria
Here in Denmark a writer had published a new book on the religion Islam, He failed to find any cartoonists to make
any pictures in his book, simply out of fear!
then the newspaper Jylland-posten took up the story of Salmon Rushdie etc. and asked the question if simple cartoon pictures would be censured out of fear in DK.
so they asked some professional cartoonists to make a picture and printed them out of respect of our free speech.
The paper have now made several apologizes and they have published that in fact we do not have free speech in DK
simply because they regret it and would never had don it if they had calculated the effect!

It is not the "art" or the outlook of the pictures that is the issue in DK, more than the fact that we do not have free speech when it comes to fear and religion!
And it is not just a "stupid" news-paper who is making some "stupid" pictures, without a international, and for the press, "hot" subject.

4. For people who are supposedly spiritual....
graven images, whether crude or profound, should not shake the faith....

Nothing should shake the faith...

That was one of the reasons given by Muslim and protestant true believers to scorn the Catholic Church, which was the representation of Christianity to the Arab world....

They reprented god through "graven images"...

And I could be wrong, but doesn't blasphemy have to arise from within a faith in order for it to be applicable...

Just curious.....

5. There is a difference between spirituality and religion.. some people
are more hung up on rules and regulations than they are on building a relationship with the god(dess).

7. The Jordianian arrested for blasphemy is presumably Sunni.
Think of it as being a willing accomplice i.e. accessory.

Their laws, not mine, though. And I'm hardly saying it's a good thing. I'm saying it's likely going to contribute to people not appreciating that the 3 cartoons I describe in the post are not part of the 12 published in Denmark.

10. Western countries need to expel all radical Muslim clerics
They are working to create violence, and that's not protected speech.

11. Someone posted a link to these three images eariler.
But two were photographs (The pig and dog images) and the molester image was so crude, I doubt a serious cartoonist had created it...
