Ted Rall to Hannity: "Your word is worth nothing...You have no integrity"
Hannity sandbags guest. Anyone surprise?

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/02/04.html#a7009

Ted Rall, a cartoonist (I don't know much about his work) was on H&C to discuss the Tom Tole's WaPo cartoon. Hannity did his usual bit of wankery during the first segment, (He apparently doesn't understand what's written in the constitution) but then the second segment started and the classless Hannity played his usual game- he lied to Rall and sandbagged him. Watch and see.

Video-WMP

Video-QT

(just bits of the dialogue)

Rall: You're unbelievable, before we came on the air--I talked to your producer and your producer promised--You're just unbelievable. You lie just as much as the Bush administration--Your word is worth nothing--You have no integrity-Don't you have anything to say that’s original?

Hannity proclaimed that he never promised not to show Rall's old cartoon that they fought about last year. Hannity used the simple tactic of shifting the dialogue to another subject so he can take control and embarrass his guests.

Newshounds has more on the segment.

Ted Rall reacts to his appearance from last night:

"I certainly lit into Hannity, but that's not the point. The point is, if you go onto that show, you cannot trust their producer. If they tell you you're there to discuss a cartoon, they may ambush you with anything and anyone they want...read on

Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 05:21 PM by LiberalPartisan
It's Sean Hannity, who, when he's not fellating any member of the Bush admin he can find is busy fabricating the latest lies to throw to his moronic audience. Why would Rall, whose work can be be of dubious talent and taste, even lower himself by going on the Hannity show?

Hannity is such a sanctimonius turd.

and then turned it off because Hannity was being such a boor. What a twit he is. He calls himself an "independent". Like that fools anyone. He is a shill for BushCo and not worth watching. LEt the Freepers have him. He can reinforce their already upside down version of reality.

I'm glad someone told him off.

17. Why does Hannity even have guests on his show?
It's obvious he doesn't care what they have to say. He just likes to hear himself talk. They should just stick a friggin' mirror on the guest chair and let Hannity look at his reflection and talk, talk, talk.

What a propagandist! He probably gets the scripts approved by Karl Rove prior to air time.

23. I don't have one iota of sympathy
for Rall. When you agree to APPEAR on Hannity's "show" you KNOW (unless you're a total idiot) that you are stepping into a sandbagged, pile of stinking $^%#. And he thought Hannity's producer was an honest man of his word? Serious guests like Rall only lend credence & lustre to the myth that Hannity is some sort of serious, professional "news" person, rather than a vicious, bullying blowhard bankrolled by Rupert Murdoch. We need more "guests" to refuse to even appear on Hannity, not to succumb and plug their latest book, or whatever.

26. Exactly
There is absolutely nothing that someone like Ted Rall could hope to gain from appearing on Hannity's show except the publicity of being attacked/mauled/sandbagged in front of a very hostile audience. He's not going to shut Hannity down in an argument, because Hannity controls the mic and hires the editor. He's not going to reach people with his message, because no one who would be remotely interested in what Rall has to say watches Hannity's show. Why anyone outside of the extreme right agrees to give credibility to guys like Hannity by appearing on their shows is beyond me.

Anyone that appears on any show on FOX entertainment (it's definitely not news) is throwing themselves to the wolves. O'reilly, Hannity, Gibson are not journalists and merely serve to propogate the right wing agenda (fantasy world) and GOP talking points (lies).

I find it interesting that Hannity was calling Rall "mean" while he was busy attacking him. Who is "mean"? hmmmm.....

58. Sabotage would be better
As in, go on the show under one pretense, and then answer the questions with total nonsense.

On national security, for example: "What can the Democrat Party possibly do to improve their image on national security?"

"Well, I think we should invest more in music education and the arts, especially organizations such as DCI, youth ensembles, and so on."

Just totally derail the conversation with topics completely unrelated to the topic at hand, so they can't get the talking points out in the first place. FORCE them to address different issues by refusing to even take one single step down the road Hannity is trying to lead them down.

What an asshole!

Yes, Ted Rall had every right to question Tillman's motives and intelligence.
I've seen more Freeper-types insult Tillman for his anti-war stance than anyone else.

I believe that Rall was not intimate with Tillman's motives, otherwise he might have been more forgiving. But the fact remains that Pat did participate in an illegal war.

Freedom of speech does not protect public figures from scrutiny.

Now, for the sake of posterity;

It was unkind, but that doesn't mean Hannity's not an asshole.

{oe} - It is also evidenced by Rall's conclusion that he did not research the 'friendly fire' incident that took Tillman's life.

Rall was right, Hannity was using an obsolete reference to attack him.

27. I hate giving Hannity anymore recognition but I recommended this
It is hard to believe that someone would prostitute themselves out the way Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, Ingram and others do just to make money but I think that is what many of them do. They know that in the end the success of their show has nothing to do with how many lies they tells or what kind of disgusting filth it contains; what matters is if people watch it and how much money their company can charge for commercial time - because that is the bottom line. And we are just as guilty of promoting them as any idiot freeptard who watches like they are being fed from the Holy Grail.

Maybe they all have brains but no integrity. They know they are going to piss off their guests but they don't care because it makes people watch them for good TV.

As for my, no amount of money would make me stoop that low.

30. It's the "No Such Thing As Bad Publicity" law...
...if people are talking about you, you have notoriety.

If you have notoriety, you become a commodity.

When you become a commodity, you receive a steady paycheck. Book contracts. Speaking engagements.

That's why Fox's John Gibson has been so desperately trying to offend. He wants a Hannity / Limbaugh paycheck, but he lacks the ability to rise above being John Gibson, and consistently looks pathetic in the process.

I like the part towards the end where Rall says "That's the same thing you said a year ago". He simply can't think for himself, he's completely incapable of going off-script.
