NORFORK, Ark. - A teenager accused of going on a rampage at a Massachusetts gay bar with a hatchet and a gun was in a Missouri hospital Saturday after two shootings in northern Arkansas that resulted in the death of a police officer and a woman accompanying the wounded teen, state police said.

He is the same age as my son and went to the same high school as my son for a breif time. The local news was at the high school on Friday asking questions about the kid there.

I am outraged that he has made my neighboring town famous, yet again, for an act of violence.

We have governors of states that gleefully sign execution orders to fulfill some biblical need for vengeance, that we as a culture have.

If you don't go along in lockstep with this culture of violence and death, you are absolutely ridiculed and called an un-american traitor. If you go to peace marches, or are against the killing of other people you are labeled as a freak, and told that you "should leave this great country."

We've got a whole culture of hate going on in this country...look at Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, and the rest. They preach hatred, they talk about it all of the time, they advocate violence (toward liberals), and then wonder why some screwed up kid goes on a rampage.

We've got the whole Bush administration practicing hatred, whether they vocalize it or not. What else is gutting social safety nets, which put millions of the impoverished, the elderly, and children in danger? This is the new Amerika. We are a country looking for enemies to demonize, thanks to the Bush administration, and what he wants is never-ending war. It doesn't really matter who the battle is with; he just wants to gather power by being a "war-time" president.

Is it any wonder some people go off the deep end? This country is not a nice place to live in anymore, it has become mean, and corrupt, and brutal. We are seeing the results.

23. It appears he was shot twice in the head in the shoot out

They laid down spike strips and he drove two miles into the town on blown tires, hit a bunch of parked cars trying to avoid a police barricade. Once he hit the cars and stopped, the shooting began where he was shot and the female with him was killed. He had already shot and killed the policeman thus the road blocks and the spike strips. He had changed his plates to Kentucky plates but did not change the car. Still no word on who the female with him was yet.
