Poll question: Are you worried about a terrorist attack during the Superbowl?
I really wasn't until I read that they hired new security companies and remembered that they changed security companies a few days prior to 9-11.
Then I remembered that tomorrow is the third anniversary of Colin Powell's speech to the UN Security Council stating the US case for war against Iraq.
AND DU will be down!!!!!!!Truly if something happens, we will go absolutely nuts.

3. I think most of us here have enough intelligence not to be afraid of
vague, constant threats all of the time. Not that we don't think it could happen, but worrying isn't going to change anything except induce immobilizing paranoia.

4. Who cares? The Puppy Bowl will be on
with a Kitty Half Time Extravaganza!

Actually, I do worry a bit about ANY big icon thing with a large crowd. The junta is getting desperate to get their Martial Law on. Libby seems to be giving up Cheney. Yeah, it worries me that a big hit would be too helpful to the junta now.

Go to your local Radio Shack or Ham Radio Outlet or "serious amateur" consumer electronics store and get a reasonably decent scanner.

Most of your police, fire, and medic frequencies, and radio amateur emergency services (MARS and CAP and RACES) are in these frequencies:

    * 144-174 mHz (our local fire is in the 150-156 mHZ band)
    * 420-510 mHz
    * 806-869 mHz

Hint: in some localities some police frequencies may be scrambled/encrypted. But fire and medic is not encrypted or scrambled. If there is a terrorist event in your community -- it will be on the fire and medic frequencies.

If there is a terrorist event elsewhere in the country - your fire department may "pre-alert" some companies (for example "Engine 26 standby to go to Station 10; Truck 18 standby to go to Station 34, ...") - to disperse throughout the area.

I monitor 155.025 (Fire and Medic dispatch) and 154.115 (tactical for "fire" - excludes lockouts, medic runs, and auto accidents -- picks up all burning fires).

I do not monitor police.

18. Holy Fuck. That Was The Loneliest Vision I've Ever Had.
Something going down and DU not working because of the upgrades. Being on my own. Not being able to reach out to DU and collaborate.

What an absolutely terrifyingly lonely feeling that was that immediately entered my body after reading your last line. What a testament to the community that is DU.

21. No, they'de kill a fuckload of republicans
It's mostly the haves and havemores at events like this, joe sixpack sure as hell isn't there, unless they want to sacrafice a bunch of their own, I'm not too worried about it.
It would make more sense to mess with the world series next year closer to election day.
