Betty Friedan's Feminine Mystique why back when.
It was a blessing to learn I wasn't alone in my thoughts on women's rights. and her book empowered me to open my mouth and speak out for women and to live my life as a feminist.
thank you Betty, you were loved.
-----------
Friedan's death was discussed on W.J. this a.m. and a lot of the male women haters had a field day telling us that all our woes are due to women not staying in the home like good girls.
poor nitwits are still angry at having to wipe their own behinds.
also a lot of them dissed NOW and said everything is NOWs fault.
NOW today is not the NOW of yesterday. the criminal bushmilhousegang infiltrated all aspects of our lives and their moles are in today's NOW.
NOW could clean house.

2. I once held a door open for Betty Friedan . . . and got a dirty look . . . |
|
way back when, I was working on the staff of a very liberal Member of Congress . . . and every so often, I drew the short straw and had to pick him up at the airport or the train station when he made his weekend sojourns to the district . . .
this particular day, I was waiting a the gate where his plane had landed, and was a little concerned when everyone had left the plane and -- no Congressman! . . . I waited awhile longer, and eventually he exited the plane, accompanied by a woman who looked familiar, but whose name I couldn't recall . . . she was carrying a fruit basket and chatting with the C-man . . .
"I'd like you to meet my friend Betty Friedan," he said as they approached. "Betty dropped her fruit basket on the plane, and I stayed to help her pick it up." . . . o-o-o-o-kay . . .
anyhow, we got to one of the terminal doors and, like a good Congressional aide, I opened the door and held it for the Congressman and for Ms. Friedan . . . as she walked through, she gave me this look that could melt steel . . . guess she felt that a man holding a door open for her was sexist or something . . .
and that's the story of how I met Betty Friedan . . . :)
