How sick is this...
A local Democrats board in Youngstown, Ohio has the entire collection of Mohammed cartoons prominantly posted on the main page. The 'leader' of this group is Jewish, and the sys admin is a hardcore Republican. Stop in and let them know what you think:

I think it's insane!!!

5. there is a lot of crap posted here too
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x328743

which has nothing to do with the actual cartoons. I you google that kind of "cartoons" you'll find plenty of racist and RW material aimed to create hate.

I alerted but nothing happened

16. Thank you for your thoughtful replies on that thread
I was invovled in it, and found there are some pretty rude people that populate the boards. I think the point of this thread is that rwingers are trying to imply that Democrats like to post cartoons ridiculing and demeaning certain groups, in this case, Muslims. I'm sure that if they thought it would win over hearts and minds, they'd publish anti-Jewish cartoons there as well.

The point is that the Democratic Party prides itself in being inclusive, in treating all people with respect. The website described in the OP undermines this.

11. I'm pointing it out because
I don't think it would be funny to have Holocaust cartoons on a site, either! The fact is, Islam allows NO IMAGES of Mohamed, so posting those images is a direct assault on another religion.

13. So is....
the book "atheism: the case against god" and everything else in the Prometheous books catalog. Should those all be done away with? Is being gay, which is not allowed by islam, a direct assault on it also?

15. No way, you are pointing it out because Jews ARE the
perpetual whipping boy on this website.

Next I'll here the continuous whining that "I'm NOT Anti-Semitic!"

Does that make any sense when a good number of Progressives associate Jews/Israel continuously? Why are all Jews made to suffer because of Israel's actions?

Does that make any more sense than denigrating ALL Americans because of the Bush's administration's actions?

12. I concur.
ISlam has made it trendy and acceptable for liberals to hate jews. I seriously expect gays to come next, and some of these apologists will start saying that just being gay is a hate crime against islam.

18. My ex husband is a Palestinian Muslim and my new husband
Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 02:08 PM by Clark2008
is Jewish.

They both are Semitic.

They both agree that there have been many attacks by each side that were unwarranted.

And my current husband also agrees with me that it's very sad that the Jewish people of Israel pretty much heard the Palestinians into what amounts to interment camps after what happened to the Jews in Germany (we don't understand why a people who had that done to them would want to do it to another group). We can agree with that, while still bemoaning the violence of maryterdom that permeates the Palestinian culture, as well.

It's not necessarily anti-Jewish to point out that the site administrator is Jewish. It's just provides more information to the reader. Take it for what it's worth: info.

20. Some of my best friends are Jewish ...
Blah Blah Blah.

I don't give a rat's ass about your justification for your prejudices.

What you "inclusive" Progressives don't realize is that you constantly alienate a very important part of the Progressive movement ... JEWS.

We increasingly have nowhere to go. We aren't Republicans but we aren't welcome in the Progressive movement unless we condemn EVERYTHING Israel.

Sorry, I won't do that since I get wee bit touchy about this issue since they were sticking my people in ovens 60 years ago.

I don't like genocide in ANY form ... when directed against Muslims, Jews, Christians, etc.

21. I was simply adding inforamtion about the site.
The club is lead by Mark Belinky, who HAPPENS to be Jewish. The webmaster is a conservative crazie who decided to add that crap to the site on a Sunday afternoon. I am not an anti-Semite, but I am not a Israel apologist either. And LOTS of BAD is being done in the name of Islam, but I will not put all Islamic believers in one basket.

22. But that doesn't stop you from putting all JEWS in one basket, does it?
Sorry if the "progressives" on this site don't like being shown for the hypocrites they are.

Everyone puts on their tie-dyed shirts, hold hands, sing Kum-bay-ah and rails on anything Israel or Jewish while pointing out how "inclusive" they are.
