Question to Muslim DUers who want non-Muslims to be respectful.
Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 02:51 PM by Hoping4Change
How should Rev Sun Myung Moon who has proclaimed himself to be the second Messiah be handled? Should he be exempt from criticism and satire because his followers might be offended?

By the way all those who take offense at cartoons Muhammed, Moon's newspaper ads "literally describe a motivational-style seminar in Heaven, where MUHAMMED shows up and declares the following (which is not in the Quran, obviously)

Since I, Muhammad, encountered the Unification Principle and met the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, my worldview has changed. I am now confident in everything. Everything seems new to me now. I am filled with optimism and hope. This is because I have come to know the fundamental will of God and that God is the Parent of humankind. I know now that this is the way I must go. The basic way of life is to live in attendance to our vertical and horizontal parents.
I cry out: Victory for God! Victory for Reverend Sun Myung Moon, the True Parent, Messiah and Savior! All Muslims follow the will of Muhammad. Allah, whom you have been following, was actually God, Jehovah. There is only one God for humankind and God is our Parent. I offer my pledge. I pledge to have faith in everything and follow the will of the Eternal God.

So with the above scenerio in mind, how should Moon and the Moonies, er, sincere followers of Reverend Moon be handled?

4. The term.
Thats the term I use for people overtly obsessed with respecting and prserving "Culture". Cullture is nothing but a lie. All cultures are death machines oiled with the blood fo women and gays and operate by the poor who are held at gunpoint to do so by the devout religious leaders of said "cultures".

11. I find it strange that this thread hasn't got more response.
Muslim DUers need to clarify whether every religion and every religious leader needs to be treated with kit gloves. If they think only their prophet and their sensitivities need to be respected then they need to explain themselves.

8. The concept of something being 'handled" is not part of liberalism.
The idea of "handling" something comes from corpororate boardrooms which desire to control situations that might get out of hand. Liberalism, on the other hand, allows for there to be no effective control which is why free speech is so threatening to the status quo. Free speech means no one is in control of what is being thought or said. Liberals, in the classical sense, believe that open unfettered speech is the best way to maintain order.

9. Lots of stuff if you google, But one cold hard fact is tha Neil Bush
was travelling with Moon. This was reported by the Manilla Bulletin.

And another Bush joins the Reverend Moon world tour? Brother Neil's journey with Washington Times owner and possible Messiah Rev. Sun Myung Moon is reported in the Manila Bulletin. The occasion: promoting Moon's idea for a Universal Peace Federation. According to Moon's promotional videos, his organizations are prophecied to kick off his "Eternal Peace Kingdom," in which all religions and countries would become one under his guidance.

To the casual observer, a surprising cause for a Bush to get behind...

World peace advocate and staunch supporter of interfaith cooperation Rev. Sun Myung Moon yesterday praised President Arroyo and Speaker Jose de Venecia for their pioneering efforts in pushing global interfaith dialogue that has won the approval of the United Nations.
Moon is in the country to open the inaugural convocation of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in Manila.

Together with peace leaders that included Neil Bush, younger brother of US President George W. Bush, Moon arrived yesterday as part of a 100-day tour that is taking him to 100 cities in 67 nations and covering a journey of almost 100,000 miles.
