Need help with LTTE on domestic spying.

I am not happy with the second sentence. I want to do away with the mention of my involvement with the intelligence community. Removing it causes some other problems. I want to speak more about his physical response giving away what he wanted to hide with his silence.

Here's the letter:

When General Hayden was asked if the NSA was spying on political opponents of George Bush, he just stood there. His eyes darted around the room of the National Press Club. There was a long uncomfortable silence. He then called on another questioner.

Years ago I worked within the intelligence community. I understand that silence. It speaks volumes to me. He said the spying was targeted. But were the targets only Al Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups? Has Bush ordered the NSA to spy on political opponents?

Bush says he is only targeting al Qaeda, but he said Saddam had WMD's, that Saddam had ties with al Qaeda, that congress had the same pre war intelligence he had. So when Bush says they are only spying on al Qaeda, don't blame us for being unconvinced.
