NBC's hypocricy
NBC is celebrating Easter this year with a special edition of the gay sitcom "Will & Grace," in which a Christian conservative cooking-show host, played by the popular singing slattern Britney Spears, offers seasonal recipes -- "Cruci-fixin's." On the other hand, the same network, in its coverage of the global riots over the Danish cartoons, has declined to show any of the offending artwork out of "respect" for the Muslim faith.

7. No "Cruci-fixin's"
NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2006 (UPI) -- Britney Spears' announced stint on NBC's "Will & Grace" as a chef in a feature called "Cruci-fixin's" has ruffled some feathers at the Peacock Network.

"NBC is clearly mocking the Christian faith," the group's founder, Donald Wildmon, posted on the AFA Web site. "They clearly have hostility toward the Christian faith, They absolutely will not treat Jews or Muslims in this manner ... ."

NBC responded by saying the initial release contained "erroneous information ... mistakenly included" in the Spears' announcement.

The episode has not been written yet, NBC said in a statement, and "the reference to 'Cruci-fixin's' will not be in the show and the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all."

8. Ugggh. NBC Is Doing The Right Thing, Period.
The one big positive I find in DU being down for a couple of hours soon is that it'll at least give me a few hour break from these types of insensitive lack of understanding mock because I don't understand others cultures type threads.

The fact that so many on DU just simply can't grasp why the muslim world would be outraged and why reposting those cartoon went beyond a simple free speech issue is amazing to me. (and at the same time quite disappointing).

12. Overblown:
"One day the British foreign secretary will wake up and discover that, in practice, there's very little difference between living under Exquisitely Refined Multicultural Sensitivity and Sharia".

Respect for Jewish sensibilities hasn't led to Judaic law...

Why does RW rhetoric always have either/or situations?
