al Qaeda terrorists escaped, along with USS COLE mastermind
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/02/05/cole.escape/index.html

(CNN) -- Interpol has issued "an urgent global security alert" after 23 "dangerous individuals" -- including a man identified as the mastermind of the attack on the USS Cole in 2000 -- escaped from a Yemeni prison.

The international crime-fighting organization said Sunday at least 13 of the 23 who escaped Friday were "convicted al Qaeda terrorists, some of whom were involved in attacks on U.S. and French ships in 2000 and 2002."

"Al Qaeda terrorists have been deemed a serious threat to the entire world community by the U.N. Security Council, by Interpol and by a wide range of countries," Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble said in the statement.

They escaped via a 140-meter (150-yard) -long tunnel "dug by the prisoners and co-conspirators outside," Interpol said.

"Their escape cannot be considered an internal problem for Yemen alone."

Among the escapees was Jamal Ahmed Badawi, considered the mastermind behind the attack on the USS Cole on October 12, 2000.

1. Do you ever get the feeling...
...that we're ramping up for the next terrorist attack?

Last week, we had warnings from Rumsfeld---about how these are very dangerous times.

Then, we had other government officials discussing how a nuclear, suitcase bomb attack is probable.

Then, we had the supposed Iraqis who were trying to get into the US, via the Mexico border.

I sense that a few puzzle pieces are being put together.

2. PLease
Please no. No more justification for wars . . . that's all we'll hear. If anything, another attack should signal to the American people it's time to fix our poor immigration policy, border security, and security inside America. It seems like if we were really going to "keep America safe" then we would have started with fixing the problems within our own borders first.

3. Yes, and you think Americans would wake up and smell the coffee...
Supposedly, this administration is so ruthless about terrorism.

Oh boy...they're taking the fight to the terrorists in Iraq, so they don't' get us here at home! They're trying so hard to make us safe.

Meanwhile, on the US/Mexico border, several hundred people stream through our open border. Or else, they just use the underground tunnels!

This is such a glaring example of hypocrisy and also incompetence.

If the next terrorist attack happens because they didn't adequately police the borders, I think we can all surmise that we've got another LIHOP situation on our hands.

It's as if our government doesn't want to stop terrorists from coming in through Mexico.

4. Yep
I've been feeling very paranoid and off lately. :\ I hope it's nothing but I wouldn't be surprised. :( It really started nagging on me after Bush's little speech last week where he talked more about Iran than anything else.
