Lebanon APOLOGIZES to Denmark
I know this will disappoint the radical right wing clerics in the US as well as certain self-styled pseudo-religious freaks like Randall Terry who are trying to incite more dicrod, but...

====

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanon apologized Monday to Denmark after thousands of rampaging Muslim demonstrators set fire to its diplomatic mission in Beirut in the most violent of escalating worldwide protests over the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in Western newspapers....

The Lebanese Cabinet apologized to Denmark following a late Sunday emergency meeting. Information Minister Ghazi Aridi said the government had unanimously "rejected and condemned the acts of riots ... that harmed Lebanon's reputation and its civilized image and the noble aim of the demonstration."

"This is an organized attempt to take advantage of Muslim anger for purposes that do not serve the interests of Muslims and Lebanon, but those of others beyond the border," Lebanese Social Affairs Minister Nayla Mouawad, a Christian, said Sunday after riots in Beirut.

1. Good for them!
They did try to defend the embassy. It is good to see logic prevail!

3. Very true.
There are appropriate responses, and inappropriate ones. The Lebanese government should be commended for its response.

5. Thank you Lebanon
Bad things will always happen, an unfortunate part of life but it's nice to see this kind of response from a government. A rare occurrence.

6. Think this'll make any front pages?
Or will something, ANYthing that doesn't make things worse get buried and ignored? This should be the lead in every newscast for the next three days.

7. Good to hear this. This situation needs to de-escalate.
People on all sides are trying to advance their own agendas and biases, based on this controversey.

8. No front pages.
Sadly, a legitimate response will not make front page news. What will happen is that there will be those that scream and yell that the US didn't condemn Lebanon (the far left), as they did Syria (who did nothing), without recognizing what is really happening. Then, the RW will bury this and only publicize Syria's non-reaction.

"All Muslims are terrorists!" Most sane people realize that is not even close to being true. Most of us would see that as a generalization of an entire group. However, we have some here who 'understand' the attacks in Syria and Lebanon, yet fail to see it as a generalization of all Danish or Norwegians. They can "understand" all they want, but it doesn't excuse the violence.

10. Like after 9/11.
Most Muslims, worldwide, did not cheer and offered condolences and prayer; however, the news pretty much ignored those people in favor of the cheering Muslims and stories on the radical ones.

11. What's this?
Perhaps this wouldn't fit into as well into the agenda of demonizing the brown Muslim people in the Middle East (where the oil is).
