We let the Wingnuts control the language. Spying v. Eavesdropping
Eavesdropping -- To listen secretly to the private conversation of others.

Spying -- The act of an agent employed by a state to obtain secret information, especially of a military nature, concerning its potential or actual enemies.

CALL IT WHAT IT FUCKING IS!!!

Eavesdropping is what someone sitting behind you listening to what you have to say about your burrito addiction to your friend.

SPYING is what our country is doing to us, and it's Illegal and Unconstiutional.

We are letting the RW control the language of this debate (again). Are we ever going to learn? I spoke about this here! HE WHO CONTROLS THE LANGUAGE OF THE DEBATE CONTROLS THE DEBATE!!!

How many times are we going to allow this? Even, on the Top 10 this week, DU calls what the Chimp is doing "Eavesdropping." It's not, it's ILLEGAL SPYING, dammit!!!

1. I Drive a lot of wingnuts CRAZY...
...when I refuse to let them frame the debate.

One just shut up recently when he couldn't get me to use their term and I continually said "creationism".

2. Eavesdropping is also a pejorative term . . .
And is illegal (as best I -- a nonlawyer -- can tell from press reports and the like). It's also a more precise description of what is apparently going on with the NSA warrantless wiretapping scandal.

I have no problem calling it what it is -- and saving "spying" for when that's what they're doing. Or don't you think the heirs of J. Edgar Hoover aren't ALSO spying in ways that haven't been revealed yet?
