Had the NYT exposed the ILLEGAL WIRETAPPING story a year ago,
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 10:51 AM by in_cog_ni_to
not only would the idiot-in-chief, most likely, not have been able to steal another election, GONZALES, more than likely, would not have been confirmed. The NYT is complicit in trashing our Constitution and DESTROYING our country. Gonzales told the idiot-in-chief he COULD BREAK THE LAW.

That's all.:hi:

1. Well what do you expect from a paper that employs ilk such as
Judy Miller?

I refuse to even take anything they say anymore as journalism....they have lost all of thier credibility IMHO. They enabled Bush to lie, and did it willingly without a care of what it would do to this country.

4. Spot on. I couldn't agree more.
I rate the NYT up there with The National Enquirer. EXCEPT, The National Enquirer has MORE credibility, IMCPO.

8. I don't agree with that , lol
I put the NYT right up there with Charmin/Quilted Northern or even that sand paper I have had to wipe with before.

That's where I rank the NYT.

2. Sorry, but that well timed fireside chat with Uncle Osama trumped
everything with the American voting idiots. Like children they sought to do the opposite of what they knew to be right because of a dare.

7. Last year, before the 2004 election
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 11:16 AM by DoYouEverWonder
I found prima facie evidence of the Bush Campaign collaborating with the Swift Boat Vets. I sent emails to every news org that I could think of and actually got a phone call from the NYT's. They were very interested in the documents that I had found which I emailed them copies of. The result, they did write about what I had found but buried it deep within another story and to add insult to injury took credit for finding the documents themselves. Glad I wasted my time.

(I also turned these documents over to the Kerry campaign, but that's another story).

edit: spelling correction

9. Interesting. Did the Kerry campaign do anything with your documents?
Just curious.

12. Yes, it was part of Item #5
on their FEC complaint against the Bush Campaign. Seems that nothing much ever came of that either.

5. They also knew that Rove outed Plame since summer 2003, and let WH lie
for two years without bothering to tell the VOTERS.

6. They also had proof Bush was wired during the debates and wouldn't report
it to voters.

11. SO? What can be done about a MAJOR newspaper
withholding info that the people of this country should know? THAT'S their job. It is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to hold the Government accountable for illegal/questionable behavior. This latest tidbit of info they refused to print PRIOR TO AN ELECTION is unforgivable. Is their no recourse other than subscriptions being canceled? They need to be held accountable for this. HOW is that done to a newspaper?

16. I would love to see a class-action lawsuit against them.
Maybe THAT should be your thread?

Request from the legal minds here at DU how to pursue such a case and ask DU members how they would feel about being part of it?

20. A class action suit would be perfect.
Think of all the coverage we would get from ALL the other media. Even Murdoch's whores wouldn't be able to pass it up.

17. I would love to have some really agressive lawyer
come up with a way for us to sue the Times as a class action suit of some sort. Failing to report a crime is a crime isn't it? There must be something we can find to sue them for!

22. Nah...they spent alot of money buying it up in the 80s and 90s.
They'll spend 2006 acquiring the rest of it.

21. I used to love the NYT but now it is relegated to being "poopy paper"
for my dog. I was shocked too see the editor said he was quite comfortable with his decision to withhold the story.
