if my phone call to you is "rerouted" through India,Mexico etc" |
|
and you answer is that considered an "international call" subject to spying. I heard that was happening a few weeks ago. Rerouted calls are not domestic calls.. Can I get some input.

if any part of the call goes through the US, they need a warrant.
Not that they care about warrants.

5. Kinda reminds me of Enron |
|
They "rerouted" energy outside of CA just so they could double/triple the "allowed" profit margins on each jump.
When you have no limit (either laws or regulations) on your actions, you will do anything you damn well please and screw the public.

6. There have been rumors... |
|
There have been rumors that calls from certain congressional offices have been rerouted through Canada for just such reasons.

I placed a "technical support" (a toll free number) call to my internet provider a couple of weeks ago. The guy was very helpful, had an accent, so I asked him where he was located. He said India. Is any of this going to factor into the "spying" mix? This is so confusing.

11. And what about those INCOMING calls from India |
|
where all you hear is a lot of voices in the background and some Indian man's voice saying, "Hello? Hello?", and then hangs up?
Have had several of those telemarketing calls that go nowhere. Very weird calls.
Gee, sure hope the NSA caught these guys who are invading my private unlisted phone space. :sarcasm:
BTW...having an unlisted number and PAYING for it is really a bad and expensive joke anymore.

12. For FCC Regulatory Purposes, |
|
The origin and destination are all that matter. This is an innovative definition of an international call.
In any case, it shouldn't matter. There are no restrictions in the 4th Amendment excluding international communications.

13. Dec. Thread: "WorldCom Routed US-to-US Calls Through Canada" |
|
I started a thread on routing calls back in December of 2005. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=2326724It's quite long and has a good deal of information regarding international routing of domestic calls for the purposes of eavesdropping and spying on US citizens by getting around what's left of the domestic wiretapping restrictions.

14. True, and not only calls, but emails. |
|
The sad truth is they are harvesting tons of information that is merely being sought and used to spy on domestic opponents of the Bush administration.

16. NeilLisst...hello again..I didn't know emails are 'rerouted" and |
|
therefore subject to "inspection from our spying officials". Should I be more careful in what I write in my emails? Or can I throw caution to the wind? and say,"fuck the bush crime family....
Love your toons !!!!
