13. pronunciation...
Maybe I'm just hearing things, but it sounded like one of the senators--not sure which one--said jokingly after the heckler left, "I would like to state for the record that Mr. Gonzalez is not a fascist." The thing is, it sounded like he said "fassist" instead of "fashist." Did the heckler mispronounce it, and the senator was joking about that? or is the senator just an idiot? or did I just mis-hear?

then stated for the record that Gonzalez was not a fascist.
I believe that is the first time that a member of the judiciary comettee had to state for the record that the AG is NOT a fascist.
What a joke.

Now look in the mirror, AG.

9. they should call him a Stalinist
I don't know why people are using Hitler or Facism against them although it fits. I frequently call them Stalinist and equate all of what they are doing to Stalinism and his police state.

On the socially totalitarian right, private enterprise (corporations) 'owns' all government.

It's NOT 'Stalinism' ... it IS Fascism.

Consider ...

20. you're missing his point
He's not saying that they aren't fascists; in fact, he says plainly that it is Fascism that they practice.

He's coming from a PR/argumentative point of view. If you call them Stalinists, you open up the discussion to how they are similar to Stalinist Russia and its police state. Calling them "Fascists," while it's completely true, falls on deaf ears to most people watching the debate, since they think, "but Bush isn't murdering Jews or wearing a military uniform while screaming about the Jews, so he's obvously neither a Nazi nor a Fascist."

Call them Stalinists, and it catches the "audience" off-guard and they want to know how the hell you can come to the conclusion that RW Republicans are like Communists.

18. that's actually a good idea...
Calling someone a fascist, no matter how justified, starts to sound pretty over-the-top to many people. "Y'all are just a bunch of fascists and nazis!" You're not taken seriously, since the "audience" equates "fascist" with the Leader in military regalia screaming and foaming at the mouth and "nazi" with the Holocaust. To the average American, when they see Bush and hear "fascist" and "nazi" they dismiss it, since they think, "He's obviously not: he's wearing a suit and he hasn't set up any death camps for Arabs (all those people in Gitmo are terrorists, so that's different!)."

But when you say "Stalinist" or "Leninist," you catch the audience's attention since they think, "Wait, how is Bush a communist?" and you have their attention for the moment to show, like you said, how a police state like Stalin's is what these people want.

23. That's why I coined the word "Bushevik" shortly after coup 2000
And I'm pretty sure I'm the one who coined the word...I had never heard of it anyway before writing a series of satirical articles for Buzzflash about the Bushevik takeover of America in early 2001. Here's a link for one of the last ones I wrote:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.impeach.bush/browse_thread/thread/f01966243fdda808/6e41758c35e4e453?lnk=st&q=%22bushevik%22+eutsey&rnum=1&hl=en#6e41758c35e4e453

Anyway, I was struck by the similarities between Stalinism and the neo-cons. Maybe the reason the neo-cons hate Stalinist communism so much is that they were envious of it and saw it as competition.

15. All the names fit - their think tankers studied it all and came up with
an amalgam of control policy that is probably more sinister and destructive to this country then any part of the Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini ideas for people control and the spread of hate.
