Just saw Chris Matthews on MSNBC talking about spying
He said Bush wants this fight because the majority of Americans back him. He doesn't want to talk about Iraq because that's a fight he'll lose.

The Democrats need to get better at framing this issue so that all of America knows what's going on (re: domestic spying).

2. I think those polls are BOGUS ... the public DOES NOT back spying
If even Senators like Lindsey Graham are saying they're "concerned" by the going around FISA, then I'd like to know what people they interviewed for those polls and how the questions were phrased. I don't buy this "the public backs *" for one instant ...

15. probably something like
should the government engage in international surveillance on known terrorists in order to protect the American people?

and NOT

do you think that the government should have to get a warrant in order to spy on American citizens?

(note: I am just guessing)

10. You're right
I sat on the poll information daily during the last election. The repug poles were always skewed. It just made it that much more plausible when the election turned out different than the pollsters calculated.

This one is for PR purposes. He's trying to by time for the spying until he can get Iran going and scare the public sufficiently enough that they don't care.

4. Maybe if assholes like him
weren't carrying water for the Bush regime, Americans would have a better understanding of the whole damn thing.

on a stick in the public square"? Does that make it RIGHT? or is it still unconstitutional no matter how many people say yes?

8. first of all, debunk the "Terrorist Surveillance Program" BS
Their propaganda serves its purpose. The Dems have to get out there and frame this issue for what it is - a violation of the FISA law and the fourth amendment.

Until he apologizes for equating Democratic opposition to the war with support for Osama bin Laden, and until he apologizes for his gay bashing crap.

13. what is the point in even "framing an issue"?
The democrats don't have 24 hour pinhead pundits to scream it for them.
