The new/old face of the GOP...he has his own media glorifying him.

I mean this guy is like having his own media looking out for him. They absolutely praise him endlessly. I have 3 articles on this....there are more but their archives are hopelessly slow today for searhing. Remember this red-headed guy....he is part of your future.

Upwardly Mobile Putnam

Clearly, Putnam, 31, has been on a fast track to leadership since he was elected to Congress in 2000 after serving two terms in the Florida Legislature. The day before his election to the Policy Committee, Putnam was the floor leader on a major spending reduction bill.

Under the old seniority system, it would have been impossible for Putnam to rise so high so fast. Congratulations to him for defying the odds, and best wishes for future success.

Putnam's promotion sparks prediction

U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, only a third-term House member, was elected last week to chair the House Republican Policy Committee. It's the number five position in the Republican hierarchy, and those who know Putnam locally haven't been the same since.

The self-appointed political commentators in barbershops and beauty salons across Polk County have begun to alter their predictions about the Bartow Republican's future.

Now, they think, he'll probably become speaker of the U.S. House before running for governor of Florida.

And there is more..lots more but this is enough to show you their glorification of him.

U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam May Postpone His Run for Governor

Putnam has become close friends with and a close working colleague of Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, according to local friends as well as observers in Washington, who spoke not for attribution.

Hastert and Putnam, along with a few other members, went on an Alaskan fishing trip this summer and the speaker has been a guest at Putnam's ranch in Polk County more than once.

Putnam has gone on trips in which the invitation to members of Congress were specifically issued by the speaker. There have been congressional trips to England and to Russia along with other fact-finding missions.

Recently, Putnam was in the delegation headed by Hastert that went to China, Japan and Mongolia.

Congrats to Adam "Opie" Putnam, the Ledger's political editor loves you and adores you and it just does not get any better than that.

1. Isn't this the guy who said "the AYES have it" when clearly they didn't?
Randi played the audio on her show -- I could swear this dweeb was presiding when it was CLEAR that the voice vote favored the nays and he nonetheless said blithely, "In the opinion of the chair, the ayes have it ... "

2. Why, yes, indeedy, it is him.
He votes 100% with GWB policies, and seldom in our interest.

6. Howdy Doody and Ralph Reed hanging together in our area churches.
During the 2004 campaigns. Spreading their rhetoric in churches. This is the future of the GOP....5th man in line. Had to use cache of google, article can't be found.

Note the way Putnam and Reed and my legislator John Stargel push their religious agenda in this church. They rallied in other churches, but I can't find the cache of them.

"The rally was held in the gymnasium of Grove Park Christian Church, and faith and values were a prominent part of the evening, with declarations from several speakers against abortion and in favor of legislation that would restrict marriage to heterosexual couples.

State Rep. John Stargel, R-Lakeland, offered a lengthy prayer near the beginning of the rally, in which he thanked God for political and religious freedom and prayed for elected officials, candidates and people affected by the hurricanes that have hit the state. He then introduced his younger brother, Daniel, who sang "God Bless the U.S.A."
U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, who spoke briefly before introducing Reed, compared the event to "an old-time revival" and urged those present to vote based on their convictions.

"If you're not voting your values, your convictions, your faith, what are you voting on? What's left? If you ever get mad about the possibility of losing `In God We Trust' from our coinage, you better bring a friend to the polls. . . . If you are afraid of losing the definition of marriage and family, you better get involved," Putnam said.

Reed, a former director of the Christian Coalition, who is credited with mobilizing evangelical Christians on behalf of Republicans in the early and mid-1990s, also picked up the theme of values. He drew distinctions between the presidential candidates' positions on abortion and gay marriage, characterizing Kerry as "out of the mainstream."
