Do not give up on the Buffalo quote!!!
http://marisa-mcnee.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/12/20/15927/634

"Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires-a wiretap requires a court order..."

On the Sean Hannity show tonight a caller asked about the Buffalo quote and he was immediately cut off. Hannity had an answer and talking point for every other question, but it was clear he doesn't know how deal with this one. I think it tears apart every argument he makes about the illegal spying. He was obviously bothered by the fact that it was even mentioned.

Anyways, I think this quote is even bigger than we think. If we could only figure out a way to get the media show it.

1. Whoa! A sore spot!
Their little freepers can't wrap their tiny minds around that one, can they?

Hannity just cut him right off? Just went to the next call, no comment?

Wow, that's big.

The "Buffalo Quote" it is, then!

3. I said it was illegal before I said it was legal.
And after I was already doing it.

K&R!

10. If there were any real news media left...
none of these scumbuckets would be able to go anywhere without being asked about this.

5. It's the quote Clueless George made...
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 07:53 PM by madame defarge
in April 2004 in Buffalo, NY...and from the way Al Franken describes it, Georgie said it totally out of the blue.

Here's the link to Think Progress where they have the full transcript ==>
http://thinkprogress.org/2005/12/20/bush-caught-on-tape/

But here's the quote:

Secondly, there are such things as roving wiretaps. Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so. It’s important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution.

On edit: Franken plays it almost every day and talks about it. It's starting to get some notice...

6. In the link in the first post
is the actual quote.
This was the idiot president in Buffalo in April of 2004:
"Secondly, there are such things as roving wiretaps. Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so. It’s important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution."

This was offered off the cuff - not in response to any question. As Al Franken puts it, he basically voluntarily lied.

7. Thanks to a query I posted on DU last week,
I was able to get the audio of that. Here it is, ready for MP3 podcast listening: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/12/20.html#a6404

I now have it saved as an MP3 sound file, ready to stuff into my PDA. I don't have a cell-phone, but it sure would make a neat ring-tone!
