Sometimes it is just a cold blooded calculation.
I want blood for blood for what happened in NYC. I know that could happen in LA.

I know that if we don't stand up in the light of day, the probablilty increases that it could happen in LA. I understand. If these idiots have there phone number VIA the NSA, why can't we hunt them down, you know??

And I know - this president is an idiot. I think we understand the miscalculations made and I believe this cannot be allowed to happen again. They are getting ready for another stage in this "stupid war" - they really are.

Maybe we had an element of error in our favor the last one - I think we have no more luxury next time we F-ck up, that is our kids. Our blood.

I think, the day Jenna Bush signs up for combat, I'll rethink it. Not going to happen though.

I would just say - it was not so for our fathers in war - important. The day Joe Kennedy died in the channel, that was FDR's kid on his wing. On D-Day, that was Teddy Roosevelt's kid on Utah beach. No such commitment here- isn't it??

A cold wind is blowing. And God help us all.

Joe

1. All 4 of FDR's sons were in the service
The day he died, two were in combat zones in the Pacific. Both refused to go back to Washington for the funeral as they said their father would expect them to stay and do their duty as he had done his.

John Kennedy had his father pull strings to get him into combat.

The Queen of England refused to take her children and flee London for an "undisclosed location" during the Blitz - even after Buckingham Palace was hit.

It's a whole different world and not a better one.

2. You are a student of history.
One of so few.

Jimmy Roosevelt flew Joe Kennedy's wing that day (in a P-38) over the channel, in a weird twist of fate. And you are correct, all FDR's kids fought that war.

I love FDR - as my parents did. But I'll tell you, Joe Kennedy was a hero. I know a very few that flew against the defenses against those rocket bases. He was one of the few. And in a Goddamn bomber that went 200 or 250 miles an hour. He was VERY brave to do such a thing.

It was a differnt world. I hope we didn't forget.

I will say, I think so highly of England for the stand they made then - so highly.
