An increase in the deficit which will result in large cuts domestic spending.

The programs on the Republican chopping block will be some of the more popular:

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program, which provides for less than $20 per month a nutritional food packages to more than 400,000 low-income elderly people;
The Preventative Care Block Grant, provides grants to states for preventative health services for underserved populations;
Funding for a range of social services and other types of assistance to low-income families and elderly and disabled individuals through block grants.

Or, as substitutes:

Section 202 housing for the low-income elderly
Section 811 housing for low-income people with disabilities
The Community Development Block Grant formula grant program
Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS)
The Child Care and Development Block Grant
