George Washington merely intercepted British mail (and as SOME of us know, the British are NOT American citizens, and therefore wouldn't be subject to FISA or Constitutional protections anyway - but Gonzo doesn't check his facts as long as a lie will support his position). President Lincoln went insane with war powers, the judiciary opposed him and was ignored, and he was assassinated - are they trying to tell us something with this? Wilson sent a military general (Patton or McArthur, I forget which) to kill a bunch of veterans and their families protesting for veterans benefits in the midst of The Great Depression, so if the Republicans want to use him as a prime example of Presidential virtue, I say let them so we can rip 'em up. Roosevelt was responsible for Japanese internment camps, another Presidential action that was less than stellar that I don't think Americans or Congress want repeated - so we should use him as an example of Presidential powers used correctly? Every example they cited was an example of Presidential power run amok that we subsequently abhored and condemned. Great. And we should repeat this? So much for learning our lessons from history.
