What effect does the DLC have on the party?

quite a controversial institution, sometimes they tick me off, sometimes they don't.

It represents the Dem sheeple who believe the propaganda spewed by the Republicans to frighten people. (yes, WE have sheeple too)

3. I know "Republicans" who are actually progressive

They just don't know it. They're decent, hardworking, clueless people. They don't know what's wrong with their party anymore than clueless Dem voters know what's wrong with theirs.

They hate the War on Iraq.
They want universal health care.
They don't know WHY their party keeps talking about gay marriage and abortion, because they think the govt has no business in those areas.

They won't vote Dem because Dems aren't talking about what's important to them. Dems and Repubs just keep convincing them both parties are the same.

5. It is a front organization for the GOP

After we had the John Kerry woes of November 2004, and after the supposed "warning" to Democrats that we need to be more cautious in questioning the domestic spying campaign, it should be very clear that this is an organization who is performing the function of keeping Democrats out of politics.

The warning against pursuing questions about domestic spying is the tipping of the hand. What people could the Democrats possibly lose by questioning the STAZI-type surveillance that is going on?

And besides, if the DLC was really useful, we would be in power instead of Bush.
