3. I guess I first heard in in the late 1950s. It was kinda true then and it |
|
seems to be maybe even more applicable now.

And the Limeliters had some songs like that. I have downloaded most of their albums from E-Music, and I think I need to do the Kingston Trio next.

7. I have 3 or 4 Limeliters albums on vinyl |
|
in my big box. I need to rip them onto CDs. My fave is "Have some Maderia, M'Dear" :D "She woke up in bed with an ache in her head, and a beard on her earlobe which tickled and said...." LOL

9. There is a wonderful album called Until We Get It Right. |
|
It has songs like Harmony, the 40 Year Waltz, and The Power and the Glory. They were great!.

The Kingston Trio did some biting but funny social satire all those 40+ years ago. FYI they are still performing successfully as a group and with a couple of the early members. Here's their homepage: http://www.kingstontrio.com/html/home.htm

I remember it well. Limelighters and Kingston Trio were both good groups -- very witty. My brother and I can still toss off the occasional line to make each other laugh (this is the brother I only see every several years or so)....
I liked all their stuff, but Seven Daffodils was a favorite when I got my first boyfriend.
Nice walk down memory lane. Thanks.

18. Years ago, music was a strong protest tool. |
|
That isn't happening anymore, with the radio stations all owned by rightwing fanatics.
If good protest music is created, it isn't shared on the radio. The "masses" are being "protected" from anything that will make them THINK.
This was very mild by the conservative Kingston Trio. They were one of my favorite groups at the time, and I still love them.
Thanks, karlschneider. Nice trip back to the old days.
