Did anybody notice Gonzo's answers during his tapdance? |
|
When they were asking him about opening first class mail and reading emails, his answer was "not under the program that I'm testifying about today", but would never answer no. What a CYA tapdance. And I'm so sick of not being able to say anything because of "ongoing investigations" and "ongoing operations". Of course they are asking him about ongoing operations, that is what oversight is all about.

1. Yes, and they create secret programs with all kinds of goofy names all the |
|
time. They can never be held to account unless you know the name of the program you are asking them about!

2. This admin is heavy on the Razzle Dazzle approach. |
|
Give 'em the old razzle dazzle Razzle Dazzle 'em Give 'em an act with lots of flash in it And the reaction will be passionate Give 'em the old hocus pocus Bead and feather 'em How can they see with sequins in their eyes?
What if your hinges all are rusting? What if, in fact, you're just disgusting?
Razzle dazzle 'em And they;ll never catch wise!
Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle
Razzle dazzle 'em Give 'em a show that's so splendiferous
Row after row will crow vociferous
Give 'em the old flim flam flummox Fool and fracture 'em
How can they hear the truth above the roar?
Throw 'em a fake and a finagle They'll never know you're just a bagel,
Razzle dazzle 'em And they'll beg you for more!
Give 'em the old double whammy Daze and dizzy 'em Back since the days of old Methuselah Everyone loves the big bambooz-a-ler
Give 'em the old three ring circus Stun and stagger 'em When you're in trouble, go into your dance
Though you are stiffer than a girder They'll let you get away with murder Razzle dazzle 'em And you've got a romance
Give 'em the old Razzle Dazzle Razzle dazzle 'em Show 'em the first rate sorceror you are Long as you keep 'em way off balance How can they spot you've got no talent Razzle Dazzle 'em
And they'll make you a star!

3. Well, first of all, he's a lawyer, so he knows HOW to "not answer |
|
questions". Second, this MO has been working very well for this admin, so they're going to keep using it until they're forced not to!

5. Was he ever directly asked about giving that qualifier? |
|
He said it over and over and gave the distinct impression that there are other promgrams he's not talking about.

7. I think yes. Feinstein was fairly frustrated and said flat out she |
|
believed the spying effort was much larger and broader than Gonzales was admitting.

8. Yep, and he also said " I am only here testisfying to what the President |
|
has confirmed".
That really got me to sit up and take notice. I interpreted that to mean there's more to this 'program' that is not being discussed in that hearing or anywhere else, for that matter.
I agree with you about the "ongoing investigation" and "ongoing operations" lines. That's the standard answer to just about everything these days and I'm sick of it, too.

10. They ARE opening mail. They did it to me. |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 09:56 AM by vickiss
It happened to me last year, wait, in 2004. And it wasn't in a plastic bag with a note and a phony excuse from the USPS.
I started getting mail with the wide clear postal tape across the flaps. The flaps looked undisturbed. A piece at a time over a couple months, maybe 8 to 10 pieces total if I'm recalling correctly. I didn't think much about it at first until a friend pointed out that he had never had any mail come like that. I only got a couple pieces after that, but saved them in a zip-lock baggie. I wish I had saved them all.
So I started asking people if they ever received taped mail. No one I could find has/had ever gotten mail like what I received.
Has anyone else here gotten mail like I've described?
In peace and hope, V
