Will the Republican Party rubberstamp Bush illegality ?
Most Democrats, and many Republicans, have stated they believe that Bush domestic spying is "illegal". He is not following the FISA law, which requires him to go to court. Will the tepid Republicans roll over once more to maniacal and incompetent leader? If the odds were in Vegas, they would be about 50-1 for the rollover.

2. Absolutely.
FISA has been labeled by Republicans as outdated and cumbersome; they will see fit to do away with it instead of holding Bush accountable. This hearing is a sham and the result will be even more power handed to Bush.

4. Specter
Specter is the key. If he rolls on them the game is up.

I know I am offering an opinion based on the real world-humor me will you?

If they actually turn on W on this he will have to be impeached. Probably not convicted but at least impeached. Specter holds the key. Lots of ways this could play out so it is hard to say definitely but Specter is the key.

Graham won't do it-they could cut him loose in a heartbeat and get any number of SC Republicans to take his place.

7. Which ever way it plays out, it is a defining moment.
If circumventing the Constitution and committing a felony are OK, there will be no precedent to question the omnipotence of this administration going forward. Nothing will be considered out of bounds.

5. They say FISA is unconstitutional.
So they go out and unconstitutionally break the law.

8. Just one more tidbit needs to come out.
Right now, all the talk is about spying on "terrists". Somehow, someway the equal to a "Butterfield" moment* needs to appear. Something that will kick start this whole dog and pony show to a higher level.

Finding out a reporter was bugged would do it.

*Those that remember their Watergate History will know what this means.

9. Of course: They RUBBERSTAMP everything Bush does
That is why they should be constantly referred to as the RUBBERSTAMP REPUBLICAN CONGRESS.

The simple fact is that most people are extremely concerned about the direction this country is headed under Bush's so-called "leadership." They want a check on his vision. We will take back the House and Senate if we portry them as little more than RUBBERSTAMP functionaries who OK whatever Bush says, regardless of how ridiculous it may be.
