Maybe if I hurry with the work I'm currently stalling/taking a break from, I can have it all done by the time the funeral starts

Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 01:12 PM by cantstandbush
I really can't understand how the family allowed Bush to speak. I know the King children have been split on many issues and I bet Bush speaking and no Civil Rights leaders is one.
This service must be run by the "faith-based" churches who are receiving money from the Bushies.

5. Jesse Jackson was on MSNBC this morning and was slamming |
|
Bush.
He was talking about how Bush honored MLK one day and then had his Justice Dept. try to destroy affirmative action the next day.
He listed about three of these types of occurrences where Bush says the nice thing but his actions always fight against what Coretta Scott King, MLK and other Civil Rights Activists spent their lives fighting to accomplish.

14. I admire many CR leaders but Jesse Jackson is not one of them. |
|
In my opinion, Jackson is an extortionist and little more. After Dr. King was killed, Hosea Williams (whom I loved) never associated with Jesse Jackson again. The reason...he knew Jesse better than anyone and he saw some of Jesse's shenanigans. In my heart of hearts I don't believe Jesse Jackson has any interest in solving the REAL problems of the African American community.

8. CLINTON'S AND BUSH'S SHARE LIMO TO FUNERAL |
|
As reported on an Atlanta Radio Station, Bill and Hillary Clinton awaited the landing of Air Force One and then jumped in the limo with President Bush and his wife Laura so the couples could ride together to the funeral of Mrs. King. Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall during that ride? Wow.

in the political spotlight, it is natural to look at the politics of the event. Yes, she aslos lived in the spiritual spotlight, but if you think one person actually in that room isn't also looking and giving thanks for the political advancements that she made, you are living in a bubble.

46. It IS about Mrs. King and about the work that she did while she was |
|
here on this earth. Part of that work was political. They CHOSE to put these "politicans" on the stage and on the speakers list, so they recognize the political implications as well. If they didn't, they could have given them seats in with the rest of the crowd, just like when blivet** goes to church.
The two are not mututally exclusive because her work on this earth was not mutually exclusive.
Get it?

Geesh! Let's not forget several true champions of civil rights are in that room too. Kennedy, who has suffered along the same lines as Mrs. King, by seeinbg members of his family taken down in the middle of the fight for civil rights, he can relate to what she walked through and continued to do the work that needed to be done.
It's not just about how embarassed we are that blivet** is there, but how proud we are that the others are there and will be recognized for the work they did as well.

|
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 01:15 PM by CornField
