When we bring back the lions...
Then you can claim "Christian Bashing" or "religious intolerance". Until that happens, STFU and clean up your own house of those who hijacked your faith, before you call anybody who criticizes modern christian leaders "intolerant".

1. You want to tell us what the heck
you are talking about? This is kind of a post out of nowhere?

2. Actually, there are daily threads bemoaning the anti-christian
views apparently apparent throughout the DU world.

The crys and moans of victimization etc.

This thread is a response to that, I suspect. And an apt retort, IMHO

When we bring back the lions, then you can talk.

5. And would an analogy be
when we bring back the lynch mobs black folks can complain about discrimination?

7. It's not a fair analogy-- as there is more rampant racism
in the US than there is anti-Christian sentiment.

In point of fact, it's quite the opposite.

So often fundamentalist groups (regardless of their religion) have as a watchword: victimization. They are the oppressed and thus need to fight back by any means necessary.

8. Victimization
is a concept overused by many, many groups. That is certain.

Personally, in my "real life" (not DU) I have never encountered anti-Christian sentiment.

13. 'christians' are complaining that they are being
discriminated against and denied their 'rights' when you tell them you don't care what they believe, you just don't care to join them. They are 'persecuted' for not being allowed to force their view of everything on everybody.

17. Well, personally I haven't experienced
either persecution, nor have I (in real life not DU) experienced any Christians complaining they are being persecuted.

I think the whole thing is nonsense.

21. Not a big fan of Larry King then, are you?
It's said by every and any right wing whack job he brings on. The last couple of times I heard it said was out of Janet Parshall's mouth, which would look better if a hook was in it, and From the pointed beak of Gary Bauer.

26. What island are you living on?
Christians are complaining that they are persecuted, not allowed to exercize their 'rights' when not allowed to insist that creationism be taught in science classes, when they are not permitted to force school children to pray in their (and only their) manner, when they are not permitted to post 'rules' from their (and only their) holy books in places paid for by all citizens, when they are not permitted to be a political agency and still benefit from tax exemptions, when they insist that their (and only their) tenets of morality be permitted to be displayed anywhere, when they are denied permission to define who can and cannot be permitted to love.

You missed all those? And more?

9. Simple terminology. Maybe pictures will help.
This is bashing

This is a victim of bashing

This is the aftermath of bashing

Pointing out the hypocricy, criticizing leaders, and fighting against a theocratic putsch is not "christian bashing".

4. Then we shouldn't complain untill they start burning us at the stake.
(by us, I mean all those who subscribe to less mainstream religions...or none at all)

Do you also believe that all Moslems should be killed because there's an extremist faction of them that advocates violence?

14. Hey, I'm agnostic but I don't feel the need to mark an entire belief
system with the actions of a few.

Do what you want. I just think it's unspecific and childish.

22. You have every right to express your views.
I have every right to express why I disagree (at least with your choice of words). That's not intolerance, that's dialogue.

25. You do have every right to disagree.
What you don't have a right to do is twist my words into an easy strawman to make the argument you want to make.

I always got a kick out of that.

Even one of their "agnostic" enablers pulled out the standard religious black and white mentality, not reading what I say, but putting words in my mouth instead.
