4. Ya know what DUers? Mrs. King gave us the greatest gift today!!
Through all my tears, I came to a conclusion.... Mrs. King is smiling down on us who are fighting for what she and Martin believed in..

We've heard so many things today all in one place that we NEEDED to hear.... to energize us and keep us fighting.

Thank you Mrs. King for this gift!

(I reposted this from thread 5, missed the jump)

Everytime the camera was on him, his lips were pursed and he was nibbling on the inside of his lips. He was LORD pissypants today. He had his ass handed to him by people with true gravitas. It was all the validation that I need to go on!!! While today was a day of mourning, I swear to god, it was the vitamins I needed to jolt me out of my malaise. I am filled with joy now. :bounce:

She will say things like -

George, why can't you be more like Bill?
and
People don't like you because it is obvious that you don't like people.
and
You made it obvious there is no there there.
and
Why did you fidget so much? - It was disrespectful.
and
Could you please do something about Katrina and all those displaced poor people.
and
No one will come to your funeral except the paid mourners.
and
The only person who loves you is your Mother. Your daughters hate you and I hate you and the American people hate you.

etc. etc. etc.

46. they LOVE Bill Clinton
And so do I. Yet the whole time I was witnessing the standing ovation and outpouring of love for Bill Clinton, I kept thinking of the many people here at DU that despise him.

What's wrong with that picture? There is something seriously wrong in our ranks if those that disagree with him cannot at least respect him and acknowledge he is loved around the world.

what a sad legacy to loose your father as a daughter..but what a gift as well..to know the man you knew as daddy was such a champion for truth and right ...for that strength to be bestowed a child..is a huge burden and yet an incredbile gift..and an incredible gift to have a mother so strong to emulate..and cherish..

i see the pictures of Corretta at Martin's funeral and her child in the pew at her knees..

it took the raw love of her people to go on and leave a legacy to her children of bravery, of courage and of a constitution of fight most of us will never know..

these brave women have left us the gift of their children..

i thank these women from the bottom of my heart...i hope we can care for them here on this earth...while they go to a better resting place.

i will try..

and i will keep their life long fight going for equality for all..and peace on this earth for their children..

Wonderful, wonderful speaker. Adding her father's words at the end was so on target.
