I was a total Carter SUPPORTER...Much like many here on DU including myself were Deaniacs...but Carter was HIT by the emerging RIGHT WING and he had his own DEMONS ...(too recalcitrant and Sunday School Minister..once he got in) to FIGHT BACK against the Demons who would go on to TRASH and DECIMATE the Democratic Party.

Carter's Presidency will always be "mixed review" and as a VOTING RIGHTS ADVOCATE...I was APALLED at his "Coalition with Bush Bot Jim Baker" that they created the "BAKER/CARTER ELECTIONS FORUM" trying to get
DRE MACHINES into our STATES..

But, I think Jimmy Carter is a multi-facted individual...closer to Robert Byrd than what we here on DU think of as a Candidate we would support...so I take the good with the bad on Carter...and still withold judgement. :shrug:
